Default Want 1/10 4wd Truggy/Stadium truck. Modify Stampede/Slash...or buy 10TT?

Alright, here's the deal. I currently have a Rustler...and I really do like it. But, I'd like a 4wd, and I really haven't seen many 1/10 4wd stadium truck/truggy offerings. I have driven a few of the short course trucks, but I just don't really prefer them. I guess what I basically want is a 4wd Rustler.

So, I guess the question is:

If I'm going to modify a Slash 4x4 or Stampede 4x4 - which one would I be better off starting with? Looking at ShapeShifter, it appears all you really do is change wheels/tires and body? Surely it can't be that easy?

Or, am I better off to buy an Ofna 10tt and call it done? Going by mfg sites, it appears to be 3" shorter, which I'm not crazy about.

There's also the HPI Bullet ST Flux...but I really can't find much info on them.

This really won't be for racing, it'll be more for fun. One of the reasons I'm leaning toward a Slash/Stampede is for durability and the ease and cost of finding parts.

And the reason I'm wanting to stay 1/10 and not go for something like an electric conversion on a D8T or 8ight-T is because I'd like to stay with 2s batteries and lower cost motor/ESCs.

Losi 10 t would be my pick . You can convert it to brushless dirt cheap using scte parts , and the drive train is very robust . Check them out .

I've been looking at those as well. There's roller here for sale for pretty cheap.

Also found the Kyosho Rage VE - but I know nothing about it.

You probably could turn one of the current 4x4 sct's into a truggy as well I am thinking. Just mount up a stadium truck body and applicable wheels and tires.

I have thought about one of these also, the best way I thought to do it would be to get a Durango SCT and put the Durango stadium truck arms on it to make it wider, use the rear stadium truck axles in the front/rear and everything else should fit,you may have to measure shock lengths to see if there long enough aswell,I might be wrong but I think it would all work, then you'd have a race ready stadium truck with current spec driveline/suspension geometry aswell, would be an awesome kit for racing and make a great car for spec racing at any club for a full class.

Or option 2 is get a tekno SCT and put a set of the new truggy arms on it and do the same thing, it would certainly be the stronger option and nearly unbreakable, would look very cool with stadium truck tires on that rig and a st body!

Cheers Justin.

That was kind of my thought with maybe originally using a Slash 4x4 (though it doesn't have to be Traxxas).

But after seeing that the Losi Ten-T can be converted to electric, I'm just not sure if I'm better off starting with an SCT or just going the Ten-T route.

One of the things I do like about my Rustler is that it's nearly indestructible. I'd like something that is still durable enough to be played with on a regular basis and not so fragile that it's reserved for race days only.

A question for you guys...I have a spare Castle SCT3/3800kv combo. Would that work ok in a Ten-T?

As an owner (and lover) of the hyper tt, get the stampede 4x4 and do the conversion. I love my hyper tt but it looks like it has been discontinued and parts support has always been spotty. Similiar story to losi 810 and ten-t.

Since you arent going to race it you dont need to worry about width, etc etc. A stampede 4x4 conversion will always have parts on the wall and is really durable.

It appears the only thing you have to do to a Stampede is change tires and re-tune the suspension. Is it really that simple?

When I look at a Stampede, it seems like it would still have a pretty high CG?

Also...does anyone here have any experience/opinions of the HPI Bullet Flux ST?

I understand the stock motor/ESC is a little undersized...but other than that?

I just did a quick conversion of a Caster S10B buggy for my wife. Although it's not much of a conversion, I only changed the wheels/tires to ST and added a truck body with mounts. She's very happy with it.

rib tires in front? why? the front would do better with a treaded tire.

Yah, that's just what I had within reach for wheel sizing. It will actually have clay tread on both.
