Default Mamba Monster 2200kv gearing in a buggy

I just got this engine in my rc8.2e and now I need to learn about how to gear it. If I go with 18/46 would I have to worry about heat issues? Can I go higher? Im running a gens ace 4s 5000 mah 40c battery. I keep reading that this engine runs cool so I want to get the most out of it. Also, can I put a 5 or 6s battery in it without worrying about heat issues. I want to make this thing fast but not have to be too concerned about heat issues. Any input would be appreciated.

On 4s you should be ok. 5s might be pushing it and 6s is not advisable (need a lower kv motor).

For gearing that sounds a little on the high side but its going to depend what surface you are going to run on and the layout. Run it for a few minutes at the track and check temps. Move up/down as needed.

I ran 20/46 when I had that motor in a RC8BE and still ran just warm to the touch. The Castle 2200kv motor makes a ton of torque, I would imagine there is still room to gear up from there without heat issues.

I have seen videos of people putting 6s through that motor in order to turn their buggies into 80mph land rockets, I don't know what kind of gearing that requires..

I ran that motor is 95 degree temperatures with 19/46 gearing, good for about at least 40 mph, and after 15 minutes i came of the track consistently between 130 and 140. it was a large outdoor track, though. indoors it is just as good.

All your answers are on that website. Learn how to use the "vehicle set up " part FIRST. Pay attention to the amp draw , when you settle on a reasonable amp draw , you can switch over to the speed calculator. You can try infinite combinations, and be in the ball park when you set the car down. If you dont have a temp gun , and your even remotly serious about sticking with rc for a while , buy one. It worth every penny .... You can run any gearing you want up to about 180-190 degrees on the motor. The esc will shut itself off if your overloading it . I have never had esc's get as hot as the motors except during fires.

That motor and a mamba monster 2 esc are able to be run on 6s. Its designed for that. I've run it in my boat like that too and it worked fine. Boats also run a higher load that a buggy. My buddy has this setup in his revo and runs 6s. Make sure you use at least a 50c rated pack for this setup or it will cut out and cause you issues.

I'm aware of its capabilities of doing 6s. I just keep hearing people recommending not to. I ran my 4s 40c 5000 mah with a 18/46 gears. The hottest I measured it at was 145. I was running on the street with street tires. I've been told not to go past 170. What terrain will the car run cooler on and why? If I got to a 6s on the setup what temps should I anticipate.

Thanks

Also, if shopping online how can I determine whether or not it will fit in my rc8.2e with the body on?

Thanks

I only ever run 6S in my Mambo Monster powered Emaxx since the day I got it. Have done for 2yrs now, and its a heavy beast with massive tyres.

Not saying its advisable per se and it is pushing the motor to its limits, but it is doable. Just keep an eye on temps. 180f is the upper range of where you want to be.

Be advised though, I dont care if I blow the motor either. So I am possibly been reckless with it. 4S is very comfortable, 5S wouldnt be too extreme but yeh 6S it can do, how reliable it remains at that point.....well as I said in my case, if it blows it blows. If you are concerned about it, probably stick with 5S.
