losi scte gearing
Hey guys, I was at the track the other day with my losi scte and had some troubles with clearing jumps. I'm running a 14t pinion with a tenshock sc411 4600kv motor. To help with jumps would I want to go up or down in pinion teeth? I could hardly make the doubble and couldn't come close to the triples. Thanks for the help.

I don't think that's a pinion problem. You either have the ESC choked back or the EPA on the throttle out of whack. I'd put a 13t pinion on it just for giggles but you have something else going on. Im assuming you are driving the green truck?

check it out ... If you gear down , you are going to accelerate quicker , if you can put all that power down. If you are spinning tires , your not helping yourself by gearing down, you may try going up in gear. Are you able to carry as much speed through the corners as the truck in the video ? The more speed you carry the better. I run the same KV you run , and the same pinion on a med/large outdoor 1/8 track. Our double is larger then that triple and is no problem to clear. When you punch it , does the truck stay straight and accelerate hard in a straight line ? I also agree with Magnum ... Something else may be going on. HobbyWing said on the website they had problems with the sctpro playing nice with tenshock motors , have you had any issues with this ?

go up in pinion. 15 or 16T. you can't compare the tenshock motors to like tekin when it comes to kv. even though they're "rated" the same, the tenshock is lower. i could always gear my tenshock up from what guys running the pro-4 were. start with a 15T. also, batteries play a big role. if you're using old batteries or low c-rated batteries, you will not have as much power.

I run the hobbywing ESC and when i punch it it cogs than goes. It is always like that and I'm not sure if i should send i in or not becuase i dont think it affects the performance other than the starting punch. I have the program card so I can change the settings but i dont know what to chamge

you should try flashing the latest beta firmware to it. you will have to download the HW software to your PC and then plug the program box between the PC and the ESC.

ok, well it definitely should not be cogging. what are you punch and timing settings?

i would lower the stock timing setting by two. i think stock it comes with like 11.75 or something like that. lower it two settings. then try the 15 and if temps are still good and you need more, go with the 16.
