The stock axles are too long so they're sloppy. I would guess that's why the clamping axles are shorter.

You may want to shim the crush tube on the inside if you have small OD 5mm ID shims.

Yes too short of an axle will cause this.there is no room for shims, that is not the problem. the problem is the distance from the lip on axle to inside of aluminum hex is too short, it pinches the bearings when you tighten the wheel. i just talked to nick at associated and they are taking care of it.

So i went thru 8 front wheel bearings yesterday. Did some measuring found the front clamping hexes are 9.85 mm when clamped and stock front axles are 10.12. Basiclly associated f'ed up and made them too narrow and it destroys the. bearings.and no my stock axles dont have the too tight issue.

just to update this i raced last night and practiced probably 8 packs total. all bearings still good running with stock axles. the bearings got damaged with the clamping hexes in 3 packs.

Well someone in Denver on the MHOR waiting list is getting one for retail price and tax free. Guess it's their lucky weekend.

I'm new to 2wd buggy and def new to stock classes. What gearing should I start out with? Running a reedy 17.5 and tekin rs gen2 with the stock 69t

bigemike 03-13-2014 12:34 PM

start with a 33 tooth pinion there is no right gear, it is track, driving style and jump dependant, I would worry more about making the hardest jump on your track than straight away speed.

i dont understand why people are over paying for the kit. its not like they are gone forever. they said mid march initially and they came 2-3 weeks early, so mid april could be next week if that trend continues. i mean i wanted one too but not enough to pay more than retail especially when if you look hard enough there are sites with them in stock.

I did shim my bearings on my clamping hex fronts...raced the car last Sun...front bearings are fine.

Add to that the slipper housing won't fit in to the 72 tooth spur that came with the kit, both mine and my kid's had the same problem.

mine was tight, you just have to bend the spur a little bit and it snaps right in,no biggie

Yes the 2.5 toe block helped on power push for me but seems to want to wheelie even more. If I didn't have weight up front I would be wheeling down the straight with my 17.5.
