Default Help me choose my motor and ESC!

Hey folks! I just recently bought a used losi scte 1.0 roller with a TLR tuning. Anyways I need to choose what motor and ESC combo to get. I've narrowed it down to 2. The copperhead r.45 4500Kv brushless system. Or the tenshock sc401 4600kv with a hobby wing 120A ESC! Help me choose please, I have been holding back on what one to get, now it's time for the forums lol. Also don't suggest a tekin rx8, or castle MMP. I've already narrowed it down to the tenshock and viper copperhead.

I have had the viper system and it is a great system. I believe they still have a 1 year warranty. Either one will work good for you. The hobbywing/tenshock will probably be smoother as it is sensored and the viper is not. Either one will preform well.

Go with the Hobbywing combo, can't get the quality at that price point. I don't need one but I'm buying one before they raise the prices. Lol

WHAT? hobby wing, go bad? never….but seriously, i have never seen a hobby wing go bad unless the unit was abused, or pushed past its reasonable limits.

Why not a Tekin RX8 or a Castle Mamba Maxx Pro ESC?
You can pick up a first generation RX8 for a little more then $100.
The Castle Pro you can get for a little less then $100.

Why are you against getting a Castle or a Tekin?
Truthfully, those are the only companies I'd consider buying an ESC from.

The rx8 is the most unreliable esc I know of.. I've seen two of the new versions die this winter already and I can't even count how many of the regular rx8's I've seen smoke over the last three years. At least 4 this last summer alone. I myself didn't believe people but I learn quick after my 2nd one that I used issues, when it was repaired/updated I sold them ALL. I run all 150a HW in my 1/8 scales (2+ flawless years on them now) and at this point all v3's in my 1/10's (90a version in 2wd and 120a version in the 4wd's). ZERO issues. The v3.0 has been in my scte and in my desc410 for 2 1/2 summer seasons and 2 winters seasons with out a single hiccup. Good stuff! I was running extreme stocks in my 2wd's until this winter season with zero issues (buggy/sct)

Where do you live?
I'm in California and I currently own 6,7 of the RX8's. 3 Gen2's and the rest 3 hole case Gen1's. I've never had a probablem with them ever.
I'm thinking maybe you live in more climatic area, maybe a lot of humidity or something?
Look at my signature, all my RC's have RX8's. I probably wouldn't go near the RX8 if I had your history with them, I don't blame you.

I would expect the rx8 to be able to stand up to that abuse, anyways, it's not cheap.
