Traxxas slash for bashing. Do you want 2wd or 4wd?

You might put this in the off-road thread. Might get better opinions.

associated rtr or even a blitz. most people get the slash then get into racing then end up dumping twice the money at it just to make it compete with others and not roll as much. better off just start with a decent truck and not be much in it in the long run.

look at the for sale section for good deal on losi, kyoshos, sc10

For racing I would suggest a tlr scte2.0 or tekno sct410. But they are in the high end price range.

I would go with the Losi SCTE 1.0 and a Viper Copperhead R system with the 4500kv motor. Actually I just did this for my son, great for running with his buddies in the back yard and if he ever gets into racing it will be a worthwhile truck to run there as well. And not too expensive. The SCTE roller is like $225 new now, the viper system is $120 then all you need is a radio, steering servo and batteries.

This is probably your best option, very sturdy truck so will hold up to bashing and also worthy of the race track and it won't cost you am arm n a leg like the 2.0 or the Tekno will.

Look used at a 2.0. They can be had cheap if you look around for a bit.

Unless you love buying new parts and fixing it all the time do not but a traxxas. Worst decision I made when I started out.

The tekno sct410, lost scte and scte 2.0 and the blitz are all very very solid trucks. It's like a first gen eclipse/talon. It can be a lot of fun when it's together, but if all your doing is spending time in the garage it ain't worth it!

IMO if you are going to race it, TEKNO, would be nice for bashing also, nice shocks. Quality is unreal, and the fit and finish is first class.

If your looking for a vehicle to Race and bash, it would be Ether the HPI Blitz Or the Traxxas slash, I've driven and owned at least 3 of them lol. But if you get the HPI Blitz. The steering rack does not give enough travel to make complex turns, and the plastic of that crank bends also. So you will need to get the Aluminum bell cranks. The truck has a lot of upgrade parts as well. So it makes a great truck to start with. But my personal favorite is the traxxas slash. Yes the HCG handles horribly. If you enter a turn too fast it will flip over. Not to mention the shocks... The shafts will bend, badly. And also you must need some thread lock. I've lost a lot of bolts in the Arms and hubs. You MUST need to thread lock them or they will all fall out. I've bent a bunch of shafts in my traxxas Shocks. But although like bashing the vehicle. I have never broken any parts. And I have a Slash now. But I put the LCG Rustler conversion on my slash. And some Hot Bodies beams all the way around also. The truck handles WAY better, I've beaten Most of the Best 2wd trucks out there like the blitz, sc10, sc10v2, XXX-SCT, 22SCT, and HCG Slash. So if your trying to get a truck to race and bash, and still have money to spend, it will be the Traxxas slash In my opinion.

You know guys... The Proline PRO-2 is just a Slash.. Right..? All those parts that are on the pro2 were ALL upgrades for the slash. They say since they made enough upgrade parts. They might as well make a durable Proven Kit. And so they did. It looks like an AMAZING truck. Hopefully Blui3. It's under my tree also!
