Default chassis protector film

Just about to build an RB6.
Ive got a couple of Kyosho protector film sheets and was wondering should I
1. Apply it to the bare chassis, ream holes for the screws and then screw on components?
2. build car and then place film over the entire chassis and then carefully cut holes for removing screws when needed using a sharp xacto blade

If I do #1, the screws may not sit flush to the chassis and collect dirt and cause friction/chew up the track on landing.

What does everyone tend to do?
