Its legal.
Pros: straight line acceleration would increase.

Cons: would have a very bad push in corners. Directional changes would cause spin outs. Will handle like its on ice.

Pro - never have to rebuild the diff

Cons - no traction or steering

Pros: Slightly less diff wear and great exit speed out of the corners and on the straight (if you feather the throttle)
Cons: Everything else apart from the mentioned above

I have my diff locked because I keep forgetting to loosen it. Is this why I may have severe traction rolls in certain turns?

It would create a severe amount of push in corners and forcing traction roll when you turn ..especially on tight turns if you jump on the throttle.

If want to lock your ball diff to try it out.. but not hurt any thing and be able to go back to the ball diff this is what you do.

1. Buy a bicycle intertube repair kit.
2. Using your diff rings cut out 2 sections of the patch material to the same size as the diff rings.
3. Put diff together replacing diff rings with the pieces you cut out. (Make sure there are no Diff balls in the gear)

Works very well and will last forever. You will wear out CVDs and CVD pins. I used this method on my 4wd buggy in the front.

I may be confusing something. I have my Slipper locked, not my diff.
