Tekno ET48 Thread

I personally don't like them (Hobbywing ESCs and I don't get along), but I've seen a lot of people have success with the XR8 SCT Pro and also the original SCT Pro prior, so it isn't a bad thing to have/use.
I don't have experience with that 1900kv motor, but a lot of people run the ET48 on 1900kv buggy motors, so I would assume that unless it has a reputation for running overly hot that it would be just fine.

thanks guys. I may pick up this or maybe the new model if that ever comes out for any indoor 1/8 events.
The big thing I recall when I had one was those running the 1700kv truggy motor on 4S and having more gearing range.
Did they ever address the bodies or someone have one that is more durable?

I ran this ET since its release, converting it to the .3 and just recently retiring it. I had 2 bodies the entire time, keeping my first body that is still in good shape, when it was replaced with a new one (just for a fresh, new paint job). I raced my ET nearly every weekend, alongside other ET owners who would go through bodies every few weeks.
These reinforcements seemed to prolong the life of the ET's stock body.

I've pretty much always run either the Tekin RX8 (Gen2 and Gen3) in this, or the SMC RF-150 8th scale ESC. Both are great and fit easily. I ran the HW SCT Pro (prior to XR8) in one prior and while it worked just fine, I didn't personally like the feel of it, and haven't liked the feel of the XR8's I've tried either. The SMC and Tekin have higher amp ratings than the XR8 SCT Pro, but you shouldn't have an issue with any of them, other than if you like a different feel for braking or throttle. The Tekin and SMC feel different from each other too, but I don't dislike how either one feel to drive. Many folks will say they don't care for Tekin's feel if they're on the HW or Orion side of things. The SMC is somewhat solidly in the middle and tunes to work for either, but it'll be another couple weeks until more SMC 8th scale ESCs are available as the new batch had an issue and were sent back to the factory. Then they'll be great and around the same price as the HW.

I tried to find some rumors about a new Truggy update but I get nothing. Just one thing : the setup sheets on the Tekno website are pretty old. That could make people thinking the pro are using/testing an updated version.

I bought a EB48 the month before the EB48.2 launch. I bought a EB48.3 just before the EB48.4 arrival. I'm about to order an ET48.3 (to switch from my old ET48) then I guess the next version whould arrive soon

Most of them are running the .4 ackerman setup now (ackerman plate, bell cranks, shorter steering links), but that's about the only change. It actually took a long time for the top guys to start running that because they didn't want to change anything 'cause they love the truggy so much as is. As a result, I wouldn't use lack of new setups as an indicator of something new coming.

I am curious to see if anybody knows what's going on with the ET48.3 or possibly the next evolution of the truck. Stock was supposed to be replenished in early December but no one got any. There's no talk on this page so I'm just curious to see if Tekno might chime in or anybody that might know what's going on please.
