I was very happy with he FTW body for my 8ight-E. It was quite durable. Hopefully if they decide to crank one out for the ET48 it will be of the same quality. I'd buy one just to find out!

hey guys,
Got a question for ya. During acceleration I am getting a high pitch whine sound, the sound goes away after about 3/4+.. What an this be a sign of? My motor is running at about 135 and I'm getting throttle pauses sometimes ( I'll post about this isn the Viper VTX8 forum). Mostly wondering about the whine, just doesn't seem normal to me. My setup includes: VTX8 esc, tekin 2000kv motor, truck is completely stock specs. |

Anyone know of a stainless screw kit available for the ET48?

I love the FTW truggy body for the Losi and if they made one similar for the Tekno I would buy two of them to racing and practicing.

Mine is doing the same thing. High pitched whine like a bad bearing so I thought it was my motor bearings so swapped in another motor I have. Same thing again so I cleaned all the bearings in the truck and it still whines form 1/2-3/4 throttle. It's running fine though so I gave up trying to fix the sound and just drive it lol

Well this truck and motor are all brand new. So I was pretty sure it wasn't bearings. I was about to tear it down and check all the diffs, but if it normal, then it's something I have to just tune out. Like you the truck runs fine.

ok I was doing some testing on motor temp/esc temp, and trying to figure out the whining sound. I did in-fact find a few things not to my liking on a $600 kit. Do note this is brand new. 1st off I found that my passenger-front drive shaft is warped about 2mm-3mm. This is causing quite a vibration. Possible whine candidate. And before I mention the 2nd issue please do understand I'm not a newbie to building r/c's I have built and flown helis for about 10 years, and been building cars since I was 18.. The center diff gear has a wobble to it. I built it as I do all diffs tightening screws down in a cross pattern a little at a time to keep from warping the plastic. and there is a wobble in the pinion gear also. Put both of them together and there is another possible culprit to the whine. I am disappointed in the drive shaft and the center diff gear, both are warped and came from the factory this way. I am picky and have little to no tolerance for warped parts. LIke the new set of Sweep truggies tires I got the premounted... they are absolutely terrible. Warp'd to high hell and back.. Sweep USA was like oh well sorry to hear that.
This is simply a failure of quality assurance on Tekno's part. Over the years I have found a smaller, new, company always ends up sliding down this road. Greed takes over and quality is surpassed by quantity. Cheaper materials creep in. I hope I'm wrong and Tekno stays on top of their products. Firstly let test there customer service and see if they will replace the warped parts. Hopefully i'm not out the cost of replacing the parts. But nevertheless I still love this truck. And look forward to racing it. |

Why? Stainless is weaker than you typically want to run on our vehicles, especially with the stress they're under. Stick with the stock screws and if you want some "bulk", these guys in my opinion are best without having to buy them by the hundreds.
http://www.boltdepot.com/ I just found where I read that. There is a link to a FAQ on rcscrewz.com where they claim their stainless will be stronger than stock. I'm not sure what the truth is. |
