Default xb2

Renaud Savoya, Martin Bayer, Jirka Mára & Juraj Hudy are on the way to Dortmund, Germany for the last round of European Off-road Series - EOS. The XRAY factory off-road team was testing at the new indoor off-road track at HUDY Racing Arena for several days the very first XB2 prototype.

Juraj Hudy, the XRAY chief designer:
"At the last EOS race, less than 1 month ago, I got an idea to modify the XB4 into a 2WD version so I could use the track time and drive in 2WD class as well. The quick modifications I have made at the race amazed me and this crazy idea stayed in my mind. After coming back to the factory the R&D team has worked extremely hard for several weeks and the production was even more busy with all the prototypes to be made, we have even designed and produced few moulds in a new record time - just incredible what our team is able to achieve when is motivated and excited.

We have quickly designed a very first 2WD prototype based on the XB4 platform and in just last few weeks got the first prototypes ready to test. To be able to test the prototypes we have built within few days own indoor track and had Reno, Martin and Jirka to come over. For the last few days the racing team has worked very hard from early morning till very late night to build the prototypes and to get some first hand-on experiences and to have some basics to start building on for the next development. I am really excited about this new project and I have been very proud of what we have achieved in just few weeks. We are ready to hit the tracks with the very first XRAY XB2 prototype."

Looks like they're just changing around the XB4 right now, swept arms, rear shocks moved back, not sure what else.

Unfortunatly, seeing that they are using modified XB4's at this point as prototypes makes me think they probably just started or will start designing parts specifically for the XB2 soon. Considering it took them 2 years to design the XB4 from ground up..my estimate we will see a XB2 released in 6 months to a year. They can re-use quiet a few parts from the XB4 but, they still need a transmission, diff, chassis, front a-arms, etc.

Yeah its crazy. But I think they will have a traditional rear motor for the dirt tracks as well. They ran this prototype on carpet so mid motors fine I suppose.

Their prototypes are just modified XB4's. I'm pretty sure they are just using these for testing purposes and as a base point..so that there factory drivers can race at the EOS in the 2wd class.

My speculation..I'm almost positive they end up going with a tradition mid-motor/rear motor layout so they will need to design a transmission and differential.

Not to be too much of a Donny Downer, but it may be a little while before it is released. I picked up an AE B4.2 for now. Very happy with it so far. Previously had the TLR22, TeamC TC02evo, Durango DEX210... sticking with the B4.2 until the XRAY is out.

A few people in UK are running the XB4 in 2wd, all they have done it removed the front drive shafts really with a few other bits. It handles extremely well! Everyone who has done it has improved on high grip, as soon as the grip goes, they start to fall back.

Any pictures? I was thinking of doing that the other day.

I'm looking at giving my XB4 a run as an 'XB2' on carpet.

Does anyone know of a list of mods to do this?

Removal of front shafts is obvious, but is the front main shaft removed also?
What front wheels are used?

Any info is much appreciated.
