Default SC10 4wd speed problems

Hello, I jus recently got an sc10 4wd that came with a castle mmp esc n castle 5700kv motor. After some research and a 5min testing I found that that motor was not right for the truck at all n had major heat problems. So I bought a tekin sc4x 5.5 turn 550 motor n threw that in. I cant get it to even come close to running like I believe it should be, I changed the spur to a 58t from a 62t and put a 15t pinion in it and it jus seams like something it terribly holding it back, I got a castle link for the esc n tuned it n still no power, no idea whats going on. This is my first belt drive truck n I still got alot to learn about it for sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I got my slash 4wd jus ripping the oval up n I was sure that this truck n setup would demolish my slash n its not even coming close!! Thanks in advance for your time!!

Sounds like you're under geared. I ran a 16 pinion on my ae 4x4 with a 4600kv motor. That 5.5 is 4000 kV. Try going up a couple teeth on the pinion.

I had a way bigger pinion on it and it still wasnt running like it shoulda been, was faster than it is with the 15t pinion but it shoulda been too fast. I need to look up the endbell timing settings for that motor cus I adjusted it when I got it cus it looked to me like it had the timing advanced all the way n I didnt want it running hot, I have all the marks lined up with one another now.

I run a different ESC than you, but the timing settings may be similar in general. I'd say start at the 15T pinion if the temps felt reasonable and start upping the timing slowly, watching temps.

you may even find that you will go down in pinion size with more timing.

Here is an example of the kind of timing guys were doing with a Novak 5.5 and the Speed Passion GT2.0 Pro ESC in a 4x4 SCTE:

not sure if the MMP has a turbo timing feature (timing at full throttle) but the boost timing could be similar to the CHEAT mode. Again, start slow with timing adjustment and don't be afraid to go DOWN in pinion size.
