I've got a Viper VTX8 and a VST4.5XL on the way and am now finding out that the SCTE 2.0 is too heavy for that motor. Is there anyone here that has used that motor in their trucks?

Not sure who told you that motor wouldn't work. Not familiar with Viper specifically, but I run a Thunder Power 550can 4.5T 2-pole and its great. I actually prefer it over the 4300HD and 4600 Tekin motors I have. I am geared 13/40, but have also ran 12/40. All I did was add a little top end timing and this thing is awesome. Temps have yet to be over 140-150. Everyone finds it hard to believe that they are getting beat by a 2-pole motor. I've had to pull my lid off just to prove to people it is a 2 pole. I think everyone(myself included) has had it put in their head you have to run 4-pole motors and 2-poles are junk. To some maybe this is the case, but I strongly recommend anyone to drive a 2-pole just to try it if nothing else.

I have a guy that uses that viper system in his tekno and it is quick. I use novak 4.5 550 2pole and I love it! It is a 5000kv and I am at 14t pinion and 25deg of top end timing. I love gearing a 550 low and jacking up the timing. You will be happy with that system. It is a 4400kv I believe so I would say a 14t or a 15t pinion would be close to a good gearing on it and up the timing to get the speed.

With that being said, to each his own and if it somehow works for you then don't fix whats not broken. My point being I just do not think it is a good idea to start with such a high gearing(14t or greater pinion) with a new motor esc combo.

Track was damp and starting to dry out. I really like 5/7/5 in the diffs been running that for awhile 5k in the rear really locks it in. I was running 5/5/3 it worked good I just prefer the heaver fluid. I have also ran 10k in the center diff it's fast but harder to drive.

Using a 14-15t pinion with the stock(40t) spur is not gearing low at all. Most common pinion size would have to be a 14(with 4-pole 4600ishkv motors) unless you run the new 4300HD, then going up to a 16t pinion is fine. From my experience 2-pole motors do not have a lot of low end to them which is why you gear them low and turn the timing up to achieve the top end you want. I would NOT start with a 14-15t pinion with a 4.5t 2-pole, you are just asking for trouble. I am at a 12-13(currently a 13t) and it is equally as quick if not quicker than 4600's and 4300hd's on big outdoor tracks. IMO, Kv ratings on a 2-pole motor are arbitrary numbers anyway.

I used too love my track star 4T 2 pole motor . 2poles are so much smoother. Has a more controllable power band. It's not too snappy.Plus it doesn't beat the snot outta your batteries.

Thanks for the positive feedback on the 2 pole motors. Now I'm looking forward to seeing what it will do. What length sensor wire am I gonna need for this?
#4634
275mm sensor wire will fit good (gives a bit of slack also)
