Default New Serpent Spyder SRX-2 Rear Motor Buggy Thread

Here's the Official Thread for the New Serpent Spyder SRX-2 Rear Motor 1/10 2WD Buggy .

Here's a Link to the other thread we had going, if anyone would like to read though it. Mostly just speculation though-still not officially released as of 9/7/13

http://www.rctech.net/forum/electric...oad-buggy.html

Up on Serpent's site now: http://serpent.com/product/500001/description/

Serpent will release the Serpent Spyder 1/10 buggy in the 2nd part of september .

For the last 12 months Billy Easton has been very busy designing and testing and redesigning what we believe is the best 1/10 scale 2wd buggy ! We decided to release the purpose designed rear motor version 1st , as that is whats raced mainly, and release the also purpose designed mid-motor version soon after, as well as the 2wd ShortCourse truck. No compromises.

So first the: Serpent 1/10 2wd buggy with rear motor (RM).

Main specs: Composite chassis, carbon battery-plate, carbon shocktowers front and rear, slipper clutch, machined heatsink motormount, big-bore shocks hardcoated, super-tough composite suspension parts, light cab-forward body, large rear wing, white front and rear race wheels, fully ballraced, high quality hardware, Serpent spring-steel transmission and suspension parts. Optimimal race-geometry, many set-up and weight balance possibilities.

Designed by Billy Easton, USA. World Champion 1/10- 2wd

All details to follow soon.

The seperate Serpent Spyder SRX-2 midmotor (MM) version will be released mid october 2013, for indoor and superhigh traction tracks. The RM and MM share many parts, but the Spyder MM design is optimised for MM only. No compromises.

The Spyder 2wd SCT RM will follow soon after.

It looks very US specific if you ask me, if it's rear motor only.

Its rear motor only and was designed in the USA so I don't see why it would be Euro specific.

More curious about what they have to offer in the 4wd buggy arena as I still think there is more room for innovation and durability improvement to that platform.

yeah, I hope it doesn't turn into a "most expensive 2wd buggy" contest between them and kyosho.

serpents pricing across all the cars they have (current platforms) are very well priced. i dont see how one can make that statement with out even seeing the car, or seeing it run. you should be extremely worried about the most expensive TAG when Capricorn enter the competition. all of their cars are extremely priced. but they are having good success also, this is how they pay for all their drivers.
serpent on the other hand will be relying on this budget for drivers with their RTR range, it will cater for all classes they sell.

Your statement is very confusing with the post on Neobuggy. I appreciate all your Serpent references in your signature so maybe you can clarify for us.Maybe it's just the way it's written but it seems you imply that the 2wd buggy is down the road at the end of the year.
The Neo post says:
[Press Release]
Serpent is working on a full line of 1/10 scale off-road cars, headed by 1/10 2WD buggy World Champion Billy Easton. The 1st release will be the SPYDER SRX-2, the 1/10 scale 2WD buggy, which will be shown at the 2013 Toyfair in Germany next week, and is planned for release in May 2013. For later 2013 and 2014 other versions are planned such as 2WD Short Course, 2WD Truck, 4WD buggy, 4WD Short Course and also some Ready to Race versions. More details to follow.

This post says we'll have the new ride very soon and is being displayed next week. Maybe there are more toy fairs???
