Mugen MBX7e
#1
Reports have been made that Mugen has other projects in the works and that the design of the MBX6e ECO is holding its own for now. Further reports indicate an official 7 ebuggy may not be available until the end of the year.
Electing not to wait, I converted a nitro 7 to electric using ECO parts. Very easy to do.
Ran it twice. Indoor and outdoor tracks. Box setup too soft. Initial setup changed to black 6 hole pistons, 500 wt oil, front and rear. Kyosho Blue springs rear, Mugen 75/7.75T springs front. 5/5/5 diffs.
Higher corner speed over the 6. Very stable. Jumps well. More consistent and suited for my driving style (smooth, non-drifting).

Bolt an ECO chassis on top of the 7 chassis through the center diff holes. Use 5 battery holes in ECO chassis as a drill guide. Counter sink the holes from underneath. Spacers needed in front 2 screws as battery tray mounts fall in the milled area at front.

Easy receiver mounting

ECO style receiver box, retrofitted to 7 servo tray

Full e-chassis setup

Raced it twice. First race, started with kit setup. Too soft. Changed shocks from kit setup to Mugen black 6 hole pistons, 500wt frt/rr oil. Much better.
Second race, diffs changed from kit 7/7/3 to 5/5/5.
At my local track, fast laps are in the high 24's, low 25's. I'm not one of the fast guys, with top 5 and 10 lap times in the mid to upper 26's and low 27's.
With shock and diff changes listed above in the 7e, my top 5 average was 25.9, top 10 average was 26.07, with a fast lap of 25.6.
Feels like my ECO with more corner speed. Really nice. Better suits my driving style, which is not a 4 wheel drifting style. With a 2wd 1/10 background, smooth tight lines is what I am used to. Been driving 4wd 1/8 buggy going on 3 years now, trying to either learn to drift on power or find a car that I can drive, non-drifting style, yet maintain corner speed.
I'm excited to work with this car.

IF you guys have not seen a mugen conversion with a losi battery tray you ought to try it. You can put a large 4mm screw with nut up front and the other screws are very strong, the plastic is super strong and you can put longer bigger packs in there if need be. Just an fyi.

I contacted them about a week ago. They just picked up a 7 to design off of. They said to contact them in about a month and they will have a better idea of a release date. My guess is that they are about 2 months from being available, but it is just a guess.
