Questions?? How to remove tires from wheels without destroying chrome

I have stock Rustler tires and want to unglue them to tape the tires and get rid of the ballooning effect. I already did my research regarding the methods of removing tires from rim: boil/bake/acetone. However I cannot find anything related to removing tires from wheels with chrome and the effects of the methods I mentioned. The wheels are the All Star black chrome.

Boiling the tire shouldn't screw up the finish. I had to boil a pro-line black chrome wheel to unglue a tire and the finish was unmarred.

I read in a few places that boiling dims/destroys the chrome. Does it matter how much time I boil it ... or something else?

Unfortunately, on my traxxas wheels, boiling dulls the chrome and looks nasty. I had to remove it from the rim.
How did you do it so the chrome was still nice after boiling?

Elevate the tires in a container of acetone and let the vapors eat the super glue. Takes about a day.

Some tell you to bake or acetone..
Its smelly & can b a sticky mess...

Another
popular method is
use a X-knife & carefully skin the tire off the rim .

Takes only a 5 or 10 minutes
and both tire & insert are reusable after your done ...

Acetone will blister the chrome. Done it, wanted the rim didn't care about the chrome at that point.
