No problem, that setup I gave you will get you started on the right track. Currently at LIR all im doing to my tires is coating the inside with motor spray, mounting with uncut glued together B2, and zip freeing them 30 minutes before heat, without scrubbing it in. I'll be racing the season opener tomorrow at RC Madness, will you be there? I'll be racing Mod Buggy and Mod Truck, I'd race 4wd like im going to at the Nats but 4wd + new track = bad decision

yea im goin, runnin mod truck and gas truck ill be there around 8, some guys run 4wd once and awile, but i think its usually a group of buddys that love mod 4wd

I ended up only running Mod buggy, since my truck receivver decided it doesnt like mud. I have to say, even though the layout was more for 1/8 scales, it was still a fun track. I still dont understand why they didnt sweep the track before they wet it.... or why they wet it why people were running on it every 5 seconds. but after bad qualifying i started 8th in the A and finished 3rd.. not to bad, LIR took 2,3 and 4 not sure how we did in truck.

To get back on subject, while i was there I ran red 7204s, I had cut the outer rib off to get some more turning, I didnt think it would work on a low bite but suprisingly it did.

I heard belt dressing works crazy. Heard it makes the tires super tacky. But the trick is to find the right kind, and leavin it on there for about 30 min before you run them each time. The main thing I can think of as pre-treatment is to get the oily feel out of the tires. Hence the wd40, motor spray, etc. I like simple green.

is using combination tyre for front and rear is good...?? the curve type infront for cornering and flat type inrear to get traction / accelerate

ive seen alot of guys do it, ive tried it but dont care for it, i'd rather take some dual rate out than have it push, but i guess it depends on what you like

on gas trucks, is their a way to stop the tire from inflating(looking like its gonna come off the rim) when running down the straighaway, or reving really high?????????

Bout 1" wide strip should do..

i guess its a small virtual world after all!
Its rare that I find myself looking for more traction than a soft set of hole-shots or step pins will provide, but I have used paragon with success in the past. you just need to let it soak in for a while.

Im going to belt my next pair of step pins, Ill let you know how it works.

I cant really confidently throw around my $.02, because I wont find out until opening day at Xtreme if you guys will blow my doors off or not

well be there, not sure for opening day, but looking forward to coming down either way. ive been racing a few big races lately and have noticed alot of weird tire work going on in other states, mostly VERY hard packed tracks, and was interested to see what other people do to there tires in other regions besides our new england, becuase god knows we can go from step pins to holeshots with the change of the clouds!!

I raced up north a few times (new hampshire) and for some reason they LOVE really hard dirt, and one of them (a back yard track) was sprayed with sugar water. holy traction batman....

most everyone else used sway bars and stiff springs. I ran my usual set up with 10wt thicker oil all around and the soft compound hole shots. I had to be careful not to roll over in the corners, but holy crap that thing was a missle. with one step up in springs I would have been untouchable. the downside, is after two runs, I was running on slicks lol

I've successfully belted tires with fishing wire and a needle. Takes time though :-s I'm not sure it's worth the effort, I think finding a solution to stop the sidewall from folding all over itself is worth more.

Default About worn tures...

Worn out tires are great for making slcks! Make sure they don't have any holes, then use a sandpaper drum on a dremel to remove the rest of the tread.
