MIP was suppose to have a STOCK pucks drive system for the bmax2's. But demand wasn't high enough for them to produce a kit. Now that the bmax2, and stock racing, has evolved quite considerably the demand for the MIP STOCK pucks is here.

Will 'WillS' has gotten in contact with MIP and he addressed this demand for the STOCK pucks directly to them.

In the meantime Will 'WillS' has provided some information in reducing weight on the heavy yokomo outdrives for stock racers. quoting: "I found a company that can turn our stock ball diff outdrives into lightened outdrives. Total weight of the 2 would be 17ish grams. I am looking at interest and have an email to find out how many sets to consider a run for him. This will help out us stock guys tremendously. Going to try and sneak in some wheeler ones to see if he will do them for when I go to stock nats."

DRK Reinforced Chassis:

The DRK reinforced chassis is designed to add stiffness and weight in order to obtain a super low center of gravity and less roll on high grip surface tracks.

This chassis is a laser cut stainless steel piece you can request in two thicknesses, 1mm or 1.5mm. It weighs approximately 100 grams depending on thickness.

Default BMAX2 V.1/MR/RS tips, tricks, and mods

Known Problems or Defects: BMAX2 V.1

These following problems were part of the first generation BMAX2 V.1's.

Early bmax2 v.1 kits came with weak and brittle tranny outdrives. if you purchased an early V.1 kit with the defected outdrives get in contact with the company where you purchased your bmax2 V.1. they will provide you with new updated outdrives at no charge. yokomo did recognize this problem and made note of it on their site. later bmax2 kits came with the new updated outdrives with a supplement stating the fix.

Brittle e-clips for the shock shafts. Often breaking on hard landings. later kits provide a supplement and new updated e-clips for the fix.

Known Problems or Defects: BMAX2 MR/RS:

These following problems were part of the BMAX2 MR/RS buggies.

MR rear suspension mount t-plates have been known to crack under hard landings or not so hard landings. It is still not known if this is a bad batch of t-plates, or if people are tightening their screws a little too hard in this area.

Tips, Tricks, and Mods:

The cheapest mod you could do to your bmax2 is to replace your front stock metric axles, and replace them with the yokomo "associated" 3/16" axles (part #B2-010FI). you will also need four 3/16" x 3/8" unflanged bearings ($1 ea. at avid rc). with this mod you could use team associated/proline/jconcepts/de racing b4 front wheels. wheels will now be cheaper and easier to find.


Raising the tranny with spacers or a kit from team azarashi. You could also use 1mm, 1.5mm, 2mm yokomo spacers to achieve this as well. Raising the tranny Improves forward bite. TLR has a very similar mod for their 22's.



a great tip from 'MarkA' regarding the heavier stock idler shafts: "Speaking of weights, I was looking at some of my old leftover Tamiya TRF201 stuff and realized that these fairly cheap lightweight idler shafts fit perfectly in our gearboxes replacing the stock solid steel ones. It takes two of those to register 1g on my scale, two stock ones are coming in at 4.5g so a couple bucks removes a couple grams up high in the gearbox."

Team associated's gear diff part #9827 (b4/t4/sc10) will fit the bmax2 tranny. You will also need to get a set of 10mm shims (from either yokomo, tamiya, or kyosho) in various thicknesses to fix the side to side play. Use an equal amount of shims on both sides to keep the gear diff centered within the tranny. remember to replace your old idler gear with a new one when changing over to a new gear diff or ball diff gear.

Once i get confirmation of other ball diffs or gear diffs that could fit the bmax2 i'll post them up. Shoot me a pm if you would like to contribute.

Great tip from 'MarkA' about temporarily replacing his worn out yokomo gear diff, and replacing it with an associated (part #9827) gear diff. also proper shimming of associated gear diff within the bmax2 tranny.

Via 'MarkA':
"My beloved Yoko gear diff actually wore out (the plastic diff gear did and Amain was out) so I bought the AE one to get back on track as the ball diff wasn't agreeing with my track/driving style/setup. It does fit and to add a starting point for spacing it into the Yoko gearbox, I used 5 of the 10.0×0.20mm shims on each side to get it "close enough." It also takes several runs to "break-in" and get the internal gears meshing correctly as opposed to the Yoko one where they're just machined correctly but in a pinch, it's serving it's purpose."

Team associated clear gear cover installation: simple install. just place the gear cover over your motor plate and mark your holes and drill and tap. make sure your gear cover is clearing your spur gear.


12mm REAR hex adapter wheel conversion. great tip from 'mes'. Following parts are needed: yokomo #BM-011S rear wheel spacers, and jconcepts #JCI2091 12mm rear hex adapters. Remove the roll pin and remove the blue stock wheel spacer. Add the yokomo #BM-011S wheel spacer and replace your roll pin back into the axle. Place the 12mm Jconcepts #JCI2091 rear hex adapters over the axle and over the roll pin. Place a dab of blue thread locker onto the head bolt and tighten down snug into the hex adapter. Repeat on the other axle. you could also use proline or associated 12mm hex adapters.

Another VERY SIMPLE 12mm REAR hex mod is to use a team associated, jconcepts, or proline FRONT 12mm b4 hex adapters. you could mount the hex in the rear with no modification or removal of the blue wheel spacer or roll pin. just slide on the associated 12mm front hex adapter over your axle and roll pin, lock down, and you're good to go. Hot Bodies 12mm REAR wheel hex adapter mod. great tip from 'julius_makewar': "I have used the HB pin and not the Yokomo roll pin. The HB Hex has a .75mm or thereabouts, step on the inside face (possibly designed to run against the inner race on HB cars) which is flush against the Yokomo axle spacer. The pin is not fully bottomed out in the Hex groove but it is completely covered by the hex and should be well enough engaged and secure to not cause an issue. I have used these hexes on my Tamiya TRF201 in a similar way for some time with no ill effect. ... There is 1mm of thread protruding past the wheel nut." MORE INSTALL PICTURES

Great tip from 'janus_77' for modding your shock bottom caps and adding the appropriate collars and shims. this will further reduce shock shaft movement and bleeding issues. which in the long run will reduce shock rebuilds. yokomo has taken notice of this issue and has released their new revised shock bottom caps and collars for the "X" type Version II shocks. part # B2-S4B1.

the rs is the sport model. it comes with the cheaper shocks, different body, and a gear diff. basically a first time starter buggy for the newcomers.

the new MR and the yokomo team are doing pretty good at the 2nd round of the TLR/Spektrum Euro Offroad Series in Langenfeld, Germany. check out the awesome array of photos of the yokomo team and new MR buggy. big thumbs up!

Ok so question...in the photos it looks like a shorty battery is the only thing that will fit. Doesn't that mean this car isn't ROAR legal?

Yokomo would never design a 2wd race car that could not compete in all sanctioned bodies of racing. Shorty packs are just the flavor of the month, so they are simply showing that they can fit in the mid motor car verses using a saddle pack. If you look at the chassis you can see that it can accommodate all approved batteries in both mid motor or rear motor.

The RS and MR bodies are actually the same, there are only different cutting lines for mid and rear motor set-up. All kinds of 2S batteries can be used for rear motor. If you want to use a full-size LiPo for mid, you'll just have to use a low-profile servo, but I think saddles are the way to go for the mid-motor car.
So far, Naoto took TQ and the first final in the 2nd round of the EOS in Langenfeld, Jörn Neumann's hometown - and Naoto is racing off-road on carpet for the first time ...

As mes stated you can use full size lipos in the mid-motor configuration. I just spent the day building the MR and overall I would say the build went pretty well. The main concern I had was the flawing on the plastic parts especially on the shock parts. The A,B and C spacers for the cartridge and the shock pistons themselves.

I have run the 22 and B4.1 and as far as assembly i would say it is generally about the same. The shocks feel butter smooth and the diff feels really good. Should have some detailed pictures on Monday at AMainHobbies.com showing more detailed shots of the rear motor setup.

Car feels sturdy yet light, can't wait to get it on the track!
