New to the boards here and about to start building my tekno. Will be using the Sct Pro HW with a HW 4700. Savox 1258TG and a 7200 SMC 70C. Think I am all ready to get building as all parts have finally arrived. Can't post pics yet but thanks for all tips on building this car. I am excited to get this thing racing

Unless if you have preordered the RX8 just pick one up on ebay there are all kinds of sellers on there that have a lot of them and im sure you can find a pro4

I take it you've been following this thread for awhile as those are some real nice electronics. Very good setup IMO. This truck will put a smile on your face from how easy to drive and fast it is.

Great choice of electronics. Don't forget to pick up a good fitting aluminum servo horn and take the time to make the steering link level by using washers and a longer screw if needed.

Tekin vs. Hobbywing? What are your guys thoughts? I need to replace my RX8 (first gen) esc because the mode button no longer functions so I cannot adjust my throttle stops....

either way, The HW is much more affordable, hell you can get a complete motor, programmer and ESC for less than the cost of a RX8.

Most of the time in the RC world it seems you "get what you pay for" when it comes to electronics, so I just wanted to hear some thoughts.

Thanks!

+1 I was dead set on Tekin RX8 and Pro4 4700 but I am seeing so much talk on the HW stuff. Making me wonder....

I love bang for buck.

I use to be a name brand guy my self but decided to give Hobbywing a try since I've heard so many good things.I'm running the 120 amp sct pro esc and loved it.
Plenty of punch and no heat issues !!
You know the Hobbywing are actually Orion in Hobbywing case !!

Actually, you have that backwards. The orion is actually a Hobbywing controller in a orion case. Hobbywing is the manufacturer. Orion just buys them private labeled for them and jacks the price up. I have both the orion and the Hobbywing version and there is absolutely no difference in how they drive or the parameters that can be adjusted. The orion has a cool paint job, bullet plugs and a high price tag. That's about it.

Don't waste your money on the orion.

Why not use the Tekin Hotwire?

Hobbywing and speed passion are two companies where you actually get more than you pay for. They are both awesome companies with high quality products at great prices. No doubt Tekin makes great products but you can definitely be just as happy using a lesser priced brand.

Finished my build. Went pretty smooth except for shocks. Build the shocks as per the manual. Trying to get zero rebound. But no matter what I still get half rebound. First I tried standard now vented still the same results. Pull the shock end all the way out and it slowly retracts about 1/4 inch. Build and rebuild shocks many times on my other vehicles and no problems setting my rebound. Any suggestions.

Im talking about when you hold down the mode button and adjust the forward, backward, neutral on our controller. Maybe im calling it the wrong thing, but I don't know of any other way to do it then from the ESC.
