For you guys running the bladder and foam compensator setup I suppose the caps have to be drilled and if so how are you doing it?

Acill 05-27-2013 08:40 AM

The manual lists the bit to use for drilling the cap.

JoeC 05-27-2013 08:43 AM

Thanks.

If you go with Teknos optional gun metal aluminum hop up blingy caps they already come drilled. :sneaky:

What brand diff fluid is everyone running? I've been running ofna and it seems to be thicker than the kit diff fluids and the losi diff fluids. Maybe why I'm not having the rear traction problem. I'm still running 7-5-3 but with the ofna fluids I'd say it's probably around 9-7-5 that's just a guess from just rolling the tires over.
I noticed this after checking a friend of mines truck that is still running the kit diff fluids.

Does the kit come with fluids?

Interesting. I'm at 10/7/5 on medium bite with Team Assoc Factory Team fluids which equates pretty close to your "estimated" fluids. Im happy with these right now. Going up to 5 in the rear has been money. I originally started at 3-3-2 (this was a very good setup on our SCTE) and tried it in the Tekno with horrible results. It seems that the Tekno likes thicker fluids. These are similar fluids to what we run in our Mugen 1/8 scale.

Cain,

From the way the truck acted yesterday I think 2K is too light. I think that one wheel or the other would randomly get traction and the diff would dump all the power to that side and cause the truck to hook. It didn't happen every time I accelerated, but enough to make the truck a pain to drive.

The day wasn't a total loss though. I think I've found a good combination of springs, oil wt , and pistons to make the truck jump well and handle the rough track. I tried the pink front green rear springs that a number of people have said worked well for them. I dropped my oil weights to 25fr, 22.5r The truck jumjped very well, but slapped the chassis hard landing the bigger jumps. The hobby shop didn't have any Kyosho pistons, but they did have some AE 16mm pistons that were 1.3x6. I bored these out to 1.5x6 and ended up with the same hole surface area as the kyosho 1.3x8. They worked great. There was no sign of the nose down attitude and the pistons had enough pack that it landed nicely with minimal chassis slap.

With the lighter springs and oils the truck also handeled the rough sections much better. Now if I can just get the rear end under control I might actually learn to drive this thing!

No worries, you may be on to something with the diff fluids. Part of it could be that when I went to 2K, it was colder for sure, so it may have behaved as if heavier. I still haven't had a chance to really get the truck out in race conditions right now.

I am glad though that your shock oils are working better though. Keep reporting back what you find virgilj, this group here is most helpful, and thats not just the tekno guys either. Real community here.

I am running Associated fluid here, unfrotunately I can't compare direct as the ofna I used is in the 30K range for my 1/5 savage.

Who all here is running say 5K weight in the rear? If so, what other weights are you running all around?

Yes it comes with all the fluids that you will need to complete the build.

I got them. The holes blocked though its on the sides. So that hole cannot breathe I think! I am trying 30K in the middle now. Reduced droop a bit, stiffer springs more pack (1.3x6 front and 1.4x6 rears with 32.5AE all around 2.4F and 2.3R). Anyone tried to setup this truck like a 4wd buggy yet? I am trying that with mine?

timamybrown 05-27-2013 01:16 PM

All. Right I just realized that my ofna oil is rated in wtg is there a difference between wtg ratings and k rating would 3k be the same as 3000wtg. Maybe someone with diff fluid knowledge could chime in.

I'm running 7/7/5 right now with great results. I never ran suck thick diff fluids compared to my SCTE. I needed to turn. Before in was 552 and was scared to get on it coming out of a turn. Rear end was on ice. With 7/7/5 Still had a ton of steering, whipped those 180's and just smiled. I haven't moved anything from the DNC setup. I ran an medium size outdoor Saturday and I liked it. EXCEPT the shocks. Finally got my 8x1.3 So we shall see

timamybrown 05-27-2013 03:06 PM

What's everyone running for shock oil with the 1.3x8 pistons? I'll be running pink fronts green rears. Tekno springs and tekno pistons.

if im thinking right, there is a hole under the shock eye in the top where the bolt holds it on the shock tower
