The towers are interchangeable. We kept everything the same as much as we could. We think that more common parts = better. But only if it doesn't compromise the design. In the case of the EB48 vs. SCT410, it was pretty obvious what we had to do to make it a true 1/10th 4x4 SC. We invested a lot of time and $ into new molds to make the new kit an actual new kit.

Nothing to be afraid of. From the website:

We're not going to release exactly what we did here yet, but suffice to say that you won't need to break-in the diffs (it can't hurt though). As for shimming, there is only one shim (maybe two is some cases) that needs to be in place on the gear side of the diffs when you put them in. The rest falls together.

:) I like that you listen to us all. I might wait for the tower listing to show up and pick one up!!! Also any plans on stocking tekno parts in norcal hobbies and delta rc? One thing I like about losi is my lhs has walls full of stuff! (hate the non metric tools though cant figure out fractions hehe).

All this new info is great. Sure sounds like a DIY conversion is doable. :)
F/R arms, body mounts, bumpers, hexes and a few other bits. Maybe swap side trays to use the nerf bars.

So since it is possible to convert a EB48 to an SCT then would it be possible to do the opposite. Say one buys the SCT410 and decides to ditch the short bus lid and want to go 1/8 scale can it be done by swapping the appropriate EB48 parts? Just thinking out loud further down the line as the only Tekno stuff I have are Slash/Stampede hop ups. The SCT410 is definetely on my list.

I got to check this truck out today in person. Its going to be bomb proof right out of the box. Time to order up a body and wheels/tires. :D

Thanks for the explanation. I see the interest for now but I'm just wondering what the category will look like in a year or so looking at how fast it moves on.

Did you have the occasion to compare laptimes of an EB48 and a SCT410 on the same track with a classical setup (2S 4000kv and 4S 1900kv for example)?

Speaking from the driving could you be more precise on handling differences between both cars?

I had the opportunity to race SC's on the same track as 8th scales, and even in the same race on occasion. In general, at similar skill levels of drivers on a 30-35 sec size 8th scale (with some big air, though with reasonable SC lines as well), the SC's were generally about 2-2.5 sec slower per lap with 4600kv 2s vs 4s 1900/2050 being the top configs.

Yes, this would be possible. There are quite a few parts to convert it over, but it's doable.

And yes, it's possible to convert the EB48 the other way. Again, quite a few parts though.

This said the micro class is definitely missing. I'm getting a mini 8ight soon and it would be awesome to drive these baby buggies on an 1/10 track :)

We did this for a while on our indoor 1/10 and at one point we got 12 or so in the A Main and it was hilarious fun! I highly recommend it. The class isn't still running, but it was awesome. :)
