Next was a used Tekin RX8 gen 1 with Pro4 4600. Nice setup, fast... but didn't seem to have the guts to hang with the Tekin RX8 gen2 with Pro4 HD 4300's the other guys were running. When the rotor pooped out in my 4600, I did a lot more reading for the next combo. I landed with Hobbywing SCT Pro with 4700kv. Awesome setup. Faster and smoother than any of the other combos I had already run. Lotsa GO all over the rpm range. Recently, I bought a Hobbywing V3, and put the 4700kv with it. Wow!! Tons of tuning (more than I should probably mess with), and super smooth depending on how I set it. Still like it the best. I think it was RC*Phreak who said that combo is a beast, and he is damn right! I am now back to the SCT Pro, just for comparison, and had the best racing so far. I think I might stay with this combo for a few more race nights, and try not to mess with it :p The V3 is just plain nuts, and can get really stupid fast. As per fq06, I will try the RX8 with HW 4700 combo. What is it you like about that more than anything else? Is the RX8 superior in some ways to the SCT Pro? |
Should feel a little more power and possibly more efficient... if you have a RX8, strap it in :tire:

Anybody have any opinions of MMP versus Hobbywing SCT Pro? I'm thinking of finally replacing my Castle 3800 with a Hobbywing 4000 and am wondering if I should save a few bucks and run the HW with the MMP or get the HW package with SCT Pro and tuner box. I'm hoping the HW is a lot smoother than the Castle!!! Thoughts?

Can I only do this with the plastic caps as the aluminum ones only have one hole in them?

What size drill bits are being used to drill the approach holes? And like my question before this if I can use the aluminum caps for this instead with the one hole in them I need to know because if I can then I will drill the plastic ones for emulsion.

When accelerating weight is transferred to the rear but in a 4WD vehicle u don't want that, u want to try and keep it level to take advantage of the front wheels turning. One way to do this is with anti-squat, yet wen I look at all the set up sheets on Teknos website 4 out of the 6 on medium traction tracks are running the rear inner brace all the way up= minimum anti-squat? Im confused can anyone help me understand why?

Could u guys help me out with this question, building shocks to go to track tomorrow. Thanks.
If you build vented bladder drill one hole on the side and small hole directly in top of cap. If you build emulsion drill the cap top bigger hole where the screw goes in. The side hole doesn't matter as it seals when top is closed all the way. Don't have alum. caps cause the plastics are perfect. I don't know if Tekno has emulsion aluminium caps. |

Take a look at Hudy off-road tuning guide. All the basics are there. Even though the roll center section is explained the wrong/opposite way. |

I have a mmp and it sits because I think it's junk. I pulled my rx8 to try the hw sct pro 4 races ago. I am very pleased with it paired with 4300hd. Very smooth and brakes much much better than the castle crap too. I think I might like the hw better than my tekin actually. And price is 1/2
edit: You are going to find opinions on this matter all day. Just have to choose what option is right for you. I would start with the most cost effective option and bump it up if necessary. Not sure if you have more than one kit, but I usually try to purchase my electronics so that if it does not work in my primary racer, I just upgrade my non-race kits. |
The best combo I've found is a RX8/RX8g2 and a HW 4000.
1) I couldn't stand the excessive heat and constant replacement of HW fans on the SCT-PRO. This ended up being wasted expenses and I should have just purchased a Tekin to start with. 2) Keeping the HW 4000 motor, I saw a significant bump in power when replacing the SCT-PRO with the RX8. Sometimes it isn't all about one vendor/manufacture. |
