b44.2 no rear traction

hi everyone, i just recently got a b44.2 buggy i got used it seems to be in good condition and really clean. but ran into a little issue i install all the electronics i tested on the stand and all 4 tires spin freely so decided to put it on the ground and as soon i give it gas it moves but it only has traction on the front tires and it also make buzzzing sound, so i put it back on the stand with tires on the air all 4 tires spin but then i realize that the rear one spin slow-lie and one it hits the ground there is no traction.

i check the slippery clutch and it seems good, i try to adjust it but nothing happen i dont know much about this cars.

what do you guys recommend to do?
anything will help thanks in advance.

Can someone please point me in the right direction!! Ran my car once so far and motor started to get hot and people told me to see if anything was binding at all and after looking my spur and pin ion are way too tight!! So with that being said I can get the mesh right but when I tighten the 2 outer screws on the blue motor mount I can see it pushing my whole motor in causing the pinion and spur to be way too tight how can I prevent my motor from sliding in while tightening down the screws?? Never had a motor mount like this and not sure if I'm doing it right!! Any advise would be appreciated thank you

Let me assure you that you're not alone. It took me a while to get used to setting the motor correctly. I almost never set it correctly on the first attempt.

You basically have to just turn the motor ever so slightly either clockwise or anti clock wise to get the brace (attached to the motor) in the right position before you fully screw it in.

Its trial and error but after a while you will get the hang of it.

If you're still having problems later on today ill post a picture of how mine is set to give you an idea

Thank you!! After messing with it for a while after my post I decided to move the bracket that screws onto the motor and for some reason it worked!! probably pure coincidence but hey it slide right in and I did the paper test and meshed really nice!! Man that is a headache of a motor mount setup!! Sure is nice to know I'm not the only one who struggles with this lol!!

If the sound is "barking" and very unpleasant most likely the rear differential is to loose and/or needs overhaul. Check the manual for tightening the diff, it is a screw hidden behind one of the drive shafts.

If the rear CVA is spinning freely but still no power to the wheels it does sound like your rear diff is shot.

I destroyed mine a few weeks back running it indoors, I have to say though the noise it made was terrifying once it lost a few teeth!

Performing maintenance on diffs is right up there with replacing ball cups on turnbuckles as far as enjoyment goes but in reality it wont take to long to check.:tire:

I noticed someone claimed they couldn't get the rear traction with a 44 that they got with a different car. How about removing the rear upper chassis brace? The yokomo and Xray don't have those plus they offer them as optional stiffeners.

Did anyone try the B5 rear arms on the B44.2? I did the "move rear arms 2mm forward mod", but I am looking for more forward sweep of the rear arms, shortening the wheel base.

So in short will they fit, and will they fit my purpose...?

I have them on mine. You will need everything from the hinge pin out. I also changed the ball stud to a 10mm and put a nylon nut on the other side because it was always coming loose on my b5.

I got a B44.2 not too long ago. And I broke a set of the associated A arms for the front. just a light tap on the A-arms and they just snap so easy.
I got the RPM arms on mine now but I'm just wondering who else does. Does it no longer break on the slightest tap?

I bought mine used and came with rpm so I can't speak on the stock arms but I've taken some hard hits and broke ball ends and even a camber link but arms have held so far.

Lots of racers these days running the front RPM arms, they are fantastic. They will not break. Even Cav was running them at Cactus recently.

It's absolutely critical you know what springs you're running on your car. The Associated springs are totally fine man. I suggest just buying the sets of springs that way you have some various spring options to try to tune to your liking. For an Associated buggy, rears everything from black on up to Gray can be common. Fronts like green on up to red. I really felt green rear and blue front was great in the 44.2 on indoor clay. Good luck.

Conversion help

I recently picked up a b44.2 and I want to convert it to a b44.3 I have looked at the conversion chart I found in the b44.3 thread but it does not seem like all the parts that I need are listed. wouldn't I also need the diff gear sets and are the diff housings the same? If someone who has installed the newer parts in the older b44.2 could please help me with a parts list I need to convert the b44.2 to a b44.3 I would greatly appreciate it.

I don't think your gonna find anyone that has done an entire conversion. It's just not cost effective. You would need a new chassis, and motor mount. Center braces as well as a center diff.

You can pick up used 44.3s right now for ~$200-$250 maybe less if you look real hard. I would say you would spent more than be brand new kit cost by converting everything.

I have two 44.2s that I just bought a few months ago and am having a great time with them as they are. I may put gear diffs in them but not anytime soon. And yes the diff housings are the same.

I would say enjoy the 44.2 you have first and then decide what you want to do before breaking the bank.
