I hate the ballast. I stayed with the stock setup and laid the front shocks down, and forward holes on the Ackerman. I have a JC steering rack I need to install and 2 crap diffs I need to rebuild. I run on a tight track with several tight turns/180s and I end up running both diffs looser than most.
Rear hubs are almost always middle, or all the way back. |
Who needs chassis protectors when you have duck tape!

Is anyone running the inside wheel nuts reversed? I was concerned about popping out cvds so I shimmed on the inside and flipped the nuts with the pin on the outside.
|
I wouldn't go through all that trouble.
I had the same issue with the rear CVAs popping out. I fixed it by making sure that the bottom plastic ball cup things were screwed in all the way. Also make sure you have at least one 0.030" spacer inside the shock to limit the droop. If they are popping out then there's something wrong with the setup. |

Straight from Ty Tessmen's Dad,"It was a horrible design from Associated. It just needs spacers to keep the rear CVA from popping out." |

That was me. At the time Thomas didn't have parts in stock and couldn't get any so I mailed him the parts and he deducted the cost from the total. Anyone interested should email him first since he told me he had quite the waiting list from orders as soon as he could get parts. Haven't heard anything about him not making them anymore.

Just talked to Thomas and ill be sending him my parts tomorrow so I can do the conversion as well. Can't wait!

If they are popping out then there's something wrong with the setup. When I see people have this problem, it's almost always the shock rod end not being installed all the way. If you build the shocks right, shim everything properly and put the shocks in the right place you'll have no issue. If you try to run your front shocks in the inner hole on the arm you will need to add limiters under the piston. Take your time and double check your work, that's what I do.(sometimes I get it right on the first try, lol) You're building a race car, not a monster truck...:ha: |

It was the shock ends. I cranked them down and all seems well. I haven't hit the track yet so time will tell.
|
Even shimmed right, if you hit hard enough on an odd angle. They'll pop out.

Never experience the CVA pop or
coming out of drive cups .... |
I just bought a B44.2 from a friend of a friend. It has never been run and he built as per the manual. I have yet to mount electronics in it. should i change anything? the manual date is 09/12
