I hate the ballast. I stayed with the stock setup and laid the front shocks down, and forward holes on the Ackerman. I have a JC steering rack I need to install and 2 crap diffs I need to rebuild. I run on a tight track with several tight turns/180s and I end up running both diffs looser than most.

Rear hubs are almost always middle, or all the way back.

Who needs chassis protectors when you have duck tape!

Is anyone running the inside wheel nuts reversed? I was concerned about popping out cvds so I shimmed on the inside and flipped the nuts with the pin on the outside.

I wouldn't go through all that trouble.

I had the same issue with the rear CVAs popping out. I fixed it by making sure that the bottom plastic ball cup things were screwed in all the way. Also make sure you have at least one 0.030" spacer inside the shock to limit the droop.

If they are popping out then there's something wrong with the setup.

I was having issues as well with the rear CVA popping out. You just need to add 3-4 .030 washers on the inside of the CVA.

Straight from Ty Tessmen's Dad,"It was a horrible design from Associated. It just needs spacers to keep the rear CVA from popping out."

That was me. At the time Thomas didn't have parts in stock and couldn't get any so I mailed him the parts and he deducted the cost from the total. Anyone interested should email him first since he told me he had quite the waiting list from orders as soon as he could get parts. Haven't heard anything about him not making them anymore.

Yeah i'm still making them if only Durango had more pinions for me. They sure are taking their time to get more made.

Just talked to Thomas and ill be sending him my parts tomorrow so I can do the conversion as well. Can't wait!

This guy gets it.
When I see people have this problem, it's almost always the shock rod end not being installed all the way. If you build the shocks right, shim everything properly and put the shocks in the right place you'll have no issue.
If you try to run your front shocks in the inner hole on the arm you will need to add limiters under the piston.
Take your time and double check your work, that's what I do.(sometimes I get it right on the first try, lol)
You're building a race car, not a monster truck...:ha:

On my car I double checked that everything was together properly, and my rod ends were tight, but I still had a problem with them popping out over the summer. I was running 2 limiters, and they still popped after a while. Now the track had a huge quad jump, and they only popped on landings. For me the problem was my rear arms were flexing too much, causing them to pop out. So I replaced them with new arms, and the problem was fixed.

hyperfuxx 11-26-2013 10:23 AM

It was the shock ends. I cranked them down and all seems well. I haven't hit the track yet so time will tell.

racer1812 11-26-2013 10:39 AM

Even shimmed right, if you hit hard enough on an odd angle. They'll pop out.

Wild Cherry 11-26-2013 10:48 AM

Never experience the CVA pop or
coming out of drive cups ....

I just bought a B44.2 from a friend of a friend. It has never been run and he built as per the manual. I have yet to mount electronics in it. should i change anything? the manual date is 09/12

ryanpatrickgore 11-26-2013 11:19 AM
