however, there is more difference between the graphite riser versus plastic one other than cost based on what I am reading on the insert the riser comes with. Curious if they found better handling with the plastic one.

Not saying your not right, but still curious to the fact. I mean, if they wanted all cost savings, FRP chassis probably would do that over graphite :)

Yeah they could have traded the tires for that option and just put the wheels in. I think the first option is going to be the nut that holds down the battery. I bet there will be aluminum one coming. Unless there is a lock nut stashed in that wing nut it wont last long. I like the option of moving the battery back and forth. Now wheres my credit card.

I cant believe they don't address this thread and get us some pricing and a release date or at least give us an idea of when we will see it hit the market.

I'm guessing 400 dollar range????? I don't see any place they have cut cost.

Lets make a deal on the 44.1 and your SC.... Seems how its out dated as soon as I Opened the box.... I cant bare to hit the track with this old thing. :D

Cain 09-25-2012 06:26 AM

I have to say I am glad to see AE still moving forward with their 4x4 vehicle. They could have just sat on it and make you buy the big bores separate or just released it with bigbores.

Probably see a bunch of ".2" vehicles for everything else in the near future, a big one would be the SC10 2wd factory team. get some hexes on there and the big bores.

Stormer's got it listed at $369

Wildcat1971 09-25-2012 06:39 AM

I love how AE's prices are so reasonable. Fricking Losi, is on crack with their expensive no option cars.

Wildcat1971 09-25-2012 06:51 AM

can 4x4 buggy be run with 13.5? or do you need more motor?

takymo 09-25-2012 07:19 AM

depends on your country and rules. Here we have a class for 13.5 4WD but it is not run at the moment.
If you compete at modified races you sould run something between 5.5 turnes and 7.5 turnes if you are fast. If you dont race modified no problem. If you are not that experienced 13.5 should be a good point to learn driving smooth.

skengines 09-25-2012 07:23 AM

Was about to pick up a 44.1 for the Reedy race. Glad I waited!

big chris 09-25-2012 07:25 AM

369.99. And October. Officially. Feel better?

Yes, however since the classes are mod at most places, you may find a 10.5 using boosting features a better fit and easier to drive initially. That is what one of the fast 4x4 drivers out here when the class is run would use.

Wildcat1971 09-25-2012 07:37 AM

yeah, I would probably boost my 10.5. Hopefully they are out before xmas.

Anyone have a list of what is actually just new with the .2? It seems like some of the stuff of the list is the same as the .1?

Didn't the .1 have the cva's, turnbuckles... I want to know if I should be selling this brand new car I haven't finished building yet or just upgrade. I don't mind spending the money on the shocks because I think it would be nice to have the std shocks laying around still anyway.

RC10B44.2 Factory Team Kit Features:
Factory Team 12mm 'Big Bore' hard anodized aluminum threaded shocks with TiN "Gold" 3mm shock shafts
Updated 2.5mm carbon-fiber chassis +8mm optimized for LiPo saddle packs
VTS slipper (variable torque, multi-plate slipper with 3 drive surfaces) assembly featuring a high-rate spring
Composite battery trays allow for battery position adjustment with integrated spacers and quick-change battery straps
Updated 3.5mm front shock tower and 3.0mm rear shock tower designed specifically for the new 12mm shocks
Factory Team 12mm aluminum rear clamping hexes and rear hex wheels
Updated front top deck for increased rigidity featuring locking antenna mount
Factory Team 7075-T6 blue aluminum 0° rear hubs with oversized outer bearing
Updated front suspension arm for increased durability
Blue aluminum cam-type motor mount for easier and more secure gear mesh adjustments
JConcepts Finnisher +8mm body (clear) and Factory Team protective chassis tape included

vito 09-25-2012 08:34 AM

ae has not post a press release yet on the new .2 kits some on mess in with us lol

stu541 09-25-2012 08:36 AM

It's for real! hobby shops and distributors have the listing. :-)

Wildcat1971 09-25-2012 08:37 AM

yes, but why is it that the would first post it here and not on Facebook or the AE site /confused

vito 09-25-2012 08:40 AM

ae is trying to get the line up all done i think befor they post them all the. 1 kits

Wildcat1971 09-25-2012 08:42 AM

lol, could you imagine if they released all of the .2's at once. I would go broke upgrading.

Got one on preorder, and put the new B44.1 never opened on ebay. If anyone is looking for a good deal on a new in the box 44.1 let me know.....

Interesting I saw people guessing the new buggy when AE put the post on FB, people guessing new 4wd, 2wd, sc, scb etc and someone from AE put you are all right???? I like the idea multi new release of .2's in the works.... theory carries a lot of weight:nod:

Brit_racer 09-25-2012 09:41 AM

Funny i was just thinking of cutting and bending some lexan to go over the spur gear!

Correct battery wiring placement and ESC wiring placement makes wires touching the spur impossible. It's a non-issue if you look at a few good electronics install pics found widely through the 44.1 thread.

I despised the 4 thumb screws after a while, particularly if you dropped one into the nooks & bowels of the car they seemed to find.

Really looking forward to these nice upgrades on the 44.2!

Razathorn 09-25-2012 10:14 AM

IMHO, the big bores are the big win here.

The long chassis is the wrong direction in my opinion--I think they're just on a kick of doing the same thing on all cars (b4.1 worlds, 8.2, now b44.2) and I've done a lot of testing on lengthening and shortening the wheel base (removing material and shimming) and felt the b44/44.1 was pretty much in the best place possible. Note that the 8.2 added the long chassis and then they went right back to short on their setups. Only time will tell on that, obviously I could be dead wrong.

I *never* had slipper issues on the b44 platform. The 2wd platforms, sure, they can glaze out and require weekly maintenance to be in race shape. The new slipper may be better, but not a reason to spend money unless your previous kit is trashed.

The big bores are DEFINITELY needed on the b44 platform. The little shocks were so silly on the 4wd. If you didn't down side things perfect, SLAP, flip... so easy. That's huge on this car.

Having said all that, I'd definitely get the new kit. There's lots of little things here. I'm sure the car will be fine with the long chassis, especially with their battery location tuning options. If you have a recent 44.1, I wouldn't go and upgrade immediately, but it should be on your short list!

Wayne

boudin4evr 09-25-2012 10:23 AM

I saw the B44.2 win modified 4wd at the Clash! Total domination!

Wildcat1971 09-25-2012 10:29 AM

What I am confused by is the +8 chassis. I dont show cav or the rest of tne team using it at nats . At least not on the setup sheets

You gotta realize how big of a company AE is. With new release stuff, they are interested in talking to their vendors, distributors, retailers, promotional folks, etc. I mean, I'm sure maybe they know this thread exist, and are excited to see us excited about their new car... but you have to understand we only know about it right now because it was leaked by a distributor/retailer/other. News & media leaks happen all the time. It doesn't mean the companies have the time and/or manpower to start addressing leaked info early. They have their schedule. We'll find out more when they do their official thing. The only thing left to do here is to thank the OP for sharing this early with us here :tire:

The ROAR Nationals out here in SoCal last month actually held a stock 17.5 NT 4WD Buggy class.

Generally 4WD Buggy is mod, because well... you have 4WD so you can put down a lot of power!

I would love to see nothing more than a ton of people get interested in 4WD buggy, start stock, and move their way up as they feel comfortable. The class is super fun, and I hate to see it so "dead".

How was the turnout for that class?

Very small, only ~10 folks. The class went under the radar, and most people didn't know it existed until a few days before the event. Hell if I had known, I would have driven that class at the Nationals. But again, this was the ROAR Nationals, so Mod 4WD Buggy had a ton of sign-ups.

Cain 09-25-2012 10:48 AM

how were the speeds around the track and all? did it look *fun* I guess is more what I am getting at.

boudin4evr 09-25-2012 10:51 AM

AE setup sheets are smoke and mirrors! I asked AE team manager to post setups or for his RC8.2e setup at JC Clash, he said it's BASICALLY Hartson's set up! WRONG! Hartson doesn't use AL chassis braces or inner hole on rear hubs! that's the first 2 things I noticed! I'm sure their was other things that I missed! Not bashing on Brent, he's a nice guy, and YES he's super busy helping team with setups and racing 2 classes also!

Atomicsickness 09-25-2012 10:54 AM

Looks like they dropped the PL tires from the car. All the pictures show JC tires.

boudin4evr 09-25-2012 10:56 AM

speeds at JC Clash were F~%$@#G blistering! those guys have skills and can lay it down!

Wildcat1971 09-25-2012 10:58 AM

yeah, AE seems to get getting into bed with JC these days. makes me a little sad because the partnered with Proline for 2 decades. But JC has been closer to AE since the bought the BJ4 and Jason races for AE.
