It would figure that a 44.2 comes out just as I finish my 44.1!!!!:flaming:

No worries. honestly, IMO the BB is take it or leave it, the Avid Slipper, same, battery holder, eh. I'll keep my 44.1

See people, they didn't have to re-write the book, just an update. For all those who want a new car, Subtle updates are all that's needed!

I see no source for info or any other info posted on the web. Seems pretty bogus at this point.

Good luck with that...Although it looks very similar there are lots of little subtle changes that require a lot of parts.

For example notice that the spur gear cover is longer to accommodate the VTS slipper and the battery tray no has a spacer in it so it no longer in a net fit on the battery.

Therefore the chassis must be longer and as a result you will probably need new center CVA's, maybe a top deck? The rear one looks different in the photo, front and rear shock towers and oh yeah, big bores! That doesn't sound like a cheap upgrade!

More info:

The RC10B44 is a proven winning platform with two I.F.M.A.R. World Championships and four R.O.A.R. National titles under its belt!

The B44.2 Factory Team kit takes the next step in drawing out every opportunity to maximize the 4WD buggy's potential.

The big news on the B44.2 is the new Factory Team 12mm 'Big Bore' hard-anodized shocks. The shocks feature threaded collars, machined aluminum shock caps with bleed screws, and are completed with TiN "Gold" 3mm shock shafts.

The end result is a 12mm shock that delivers a plush and compliant ride that keeps the B44.2's tires planted on the ground.

The B44.2 also received an updated 2.5mm carbon-fiber chassis that is 8mm longer and 3mm narrower than the previous model. This not only improves stability and overall handling of the B44.2 but also accommodates the new LiPo quick-change battery mounting system, and VTS multiplate slipper assembly.

The engineers in Area 51 have once again evolved the B44 to keep it a winner, while everyone else is just trying to keep up. If you're ready to step up your 4WD program, the B44.2 is ready for you!

I'm keeping my big bore conversion with my associated bb springs! I like it better than the big bores! Personally!

this is my first post in a few years. and i had to comment. . everyone knows that carbon makes you faster bro! pfft. maybe the plastic battery straps allow the chassis to flex more?

JEFFs SC10 09-24-2012 06:29 PM

I'd like to try that new slipper design. I wonder if the towers will bolt onto the b44.1 chassis no problem. I know those big bores need extra clearance.

big chris 09-24-2012 06:30 PM

New pics and info on the front page.

scootinround 09-24-2012 06:32 PM

I think I would much rather have a B44.1 with BB shocks and the V2 slipper or a avid sliopper....than That!!!!! plastic looks cheap and breakable....:nod:

JEFFs SC10 09-24-2012 06:33 PM

oh wow cool it's a +8, guess it'll make it even easier to drive.

I already bought the big bores for my b44.1 and b4.1. So some carbonfiber and everything else isn't that big of a deal for me.

I heard it will be out in a few weeks :lol::lol:

big chris 09-24-2012 07:17 PM

It's due in October.

Mini-Mod 09-24-2012 07:17 PM

The new changes are pretty awesome. Finally more shock angle adjustments.

if this is fake you did an amazing job.

But if not this thing looks like all the fragile points are redone. and a better slipper. Sweet.

EricJ 09-24-2012 07:19 PM

Lots of minor changes here, for sure. Just a while ago I noticed my B44.1 was the exact same length as my B4.1+8. I thought the length was somehow optimal, then this comes out.

So, I want to see these new front arms. I bet they're compatible with the B44.1, which would be a worthy upgrade off the bat. I wonder if they silently released them since the B44(.1)s have been surviving a lot longer on the track in the last few months...

big chris 09-24-2012 07:28 PM

I have no skills in the fakery department. It's real. Just some are slow to release the info.

boudin4evr 09-24-2012 07:59 PM

i saw this car dominate at the JC clash! new towers for BB shocks
it will be out in 2 weeks!

soup99 09-24-2012 08:13 PM

So when are the new 2 wheeler and trucks coming out?

rigor 09-24-2012 09:05 PM

Even had inside word locally a new B44 kit was likely on the way. Still procrastinated on re-building my 44.1 to sell. Guess that's what I get :P

UN4RACING 09-24-2012 09:08 PM

Heck I haven't even built my new 44.1. Anyone want a good deal on an un-built 44.1 one still in the box?

Goodesta 09-24-2012 09:39 PM

ok the update isnt bad at all but i would love to see upgraded diffs. When i say upgraded i mean a new different compound of plastic for the diff gears. Ive been going through them like crazy

ryanpatrickgore 09-24-2012 09:43 PM

looks sick.

The stock gears aren't too bad if you shim it correctly. Usually, 6 shims behind the diff gear and three on the other side and the diff should then not have any side-to-side play.

Sounds like you're not shimming them into the transmission housing correctly. They will indeed strip pretty quickly if that's the case. Once shimmed tight, they hold up quite well.

Exactly this. I've had great luck with 6/3 on described side.

i was following the directions, i will try this! thank you!
either way im replacing the bearings, housing and diffs RCE in 2 weeks!

AndrewTom 09-24-2012 10:03 PM

well, i think its a safe bet that a t5/b5/sc10.1/.2 platform will be out by the end of the year.

Yeah, if you shim it according to the B44.1 instructions your diff will grenade. I believe it is something absurd like 4/2?? And that will work for a few battery packs until you slam on the brakes and rip the teeth of the diff!

With 6/3 you should be golden!

associatevalley 09-24-2012 10:26 PM

area 51....

First sentence, last paragraph....... I guess this was our big surprise.

DoogieLee 09-24-2012 11:22 PM

Great... I just pick up a 44 thinking I dont need the latest and greatest and then this comes out...
now mines 2 gens old instead of just one!

The real question is...is it gonna be significantly better than a 44 or 44.1?

RCHR 09-25-2012 02:15 AM

I like the flex of the old 44 chassis with all the slots, upgrade the front shock tower, and the slipper, and use the 44.1 transmission shimming and your good to go.

Hated having to zip-tie the battery wires to keep them off the spur. And the four thumbscrews were a pain. Should have been present on the B44 and B44.1 IMO, but at least they're here now.

taztal3 09-25-2012 05:31 AM

do you think ballast weight will fit on b44-2 buggy ?

takymo 09-25-2012 05:40 AM

DoogieLee: when a new kit is released there are always two kind of persons. One say it is muuuuch better and its even cheaper all in all buying the newest (its longer and the new body is the shit !) and some pretend the old is the better one (oh no big bore, havy slipper.. blabla).
But when you look back a few more years and compare with other cars like the xx-4 and xxx-4 you will notice it isnt much of a difference proper built it will do the job. When a very famous driver won the touring worlds he wanted to use a five years old car for the national championship. He sayd he knows the car very good too and it would suit the track. But he didnt want to look too arrogant and sponsors want their drivers to use the latest so he didnt do it.
My personal opinion is that the old 44 shocks without the cap and without bleeder screw are good, but the V2 are easier to build. Maybe the 44 is beefier which could be a pro too.

markpenney46 09-25-2012 06:05 AM

really wanted a gear diff option

UN4RACING 09-25-2012 06:11 AM

We need an "official" thread with an "official" release date on the "official" product....

sickpuppy1 09-25-2012 06:14 AM

But since its not "officailly" on their website yet, thats kinda hard to do.

Cain 09-25-2012 06:14 AM

curious as it why they went with the plastic risers on the rear hubs versus the factory team graphite ones?

dominick i. 09-25-2012 06:15 AM

the same reason they have a plastic cap on the spur gear assembly, cost.
