slash 4x4 motor help
Alright I picked up a decently upgraded slash 4x4. Came with the mamba max pro and a 2400kv motor. My problem is that I'm racing on an outdoor 1\8 scale track and this thing seems painfully slow. Right now its on 2s lipo and gearing is 20\50. I have a stock vxl 4x4 and it will walk all over the castle setup. I also have a castle 3800kv. Would this be a better motor for 2s? Should I try n trade for a tekin? I did try the 3800 today and its faster but still not as fast as a lot of trucks out here.

Well the 2400 is meant to be run on 3s/4s. You can gear it way up and get some good speeds, just watch temps. The 3800 Castle is a great motor too. However your probably running up against 4000kv/4600kv motors which will be faster, but will heat up faster. Did you gear appropriately when you tried the 3800kv?

I see alot of guy's upgrading and making this mistake, the 2400 is a little small kv on 2s , I'd recommend the MMM/2650 combo
13/54 x 3500 x 7.4 = 6242 stk driveshaft RPM, gearing up causes heat
20/50 x 2400 x 7.4 = 7104 mmp/2400 upgrade, ok on 2s but only 10% faster
20/50 x 2650 x 7.4 = 7844 MMM/2650 , 20% faster than stk , this will rarely overheat

I have the 3800 with 18/50 gears. Like I said its ok but doesn't seem to have the punch. I'm fairly new to rc so I'm still learning. Is it normal for the mamba max pro to blink yellow when its just sitting there?

18/50 x 3800 x 7.4 = 10123
I've run close to this set up and suffered from too much motor heat, mmp I'm not familiar, there is a lot more info on Traxxas site forum
