Anyone using different nuts than these for the hex conversion?

Just need to make sure the 4-40 are low profile but not sure if this will be a direct fit. http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...m-Mini-Nuts-10

huh? do you mean for the ballstud on the front hub? if so, yes those are fine. If you mean to hold the wheels on, no.

Yes, for the ball stud.

The AE ones are priced way too high and I need at least 10 of them to keep as spares. It looks like this will work, but wanted to see what everyone else was using.

Not just SC10 related but...how does one tell what compound a tire is if the little colored dot wears off?

Keep the original bags and store the tires in there after cleaning them on race day. Better for the tires and the label tells you exactly what you have.

Good idea. I actually keep all my sets in Dial cans/bag and they are labeled. I was just wondering if tire mfr's put some kind of hidden code on the tires to mark the compound.

Before any fresh wheels/tires hit the track I write on the inside of the wheel:

compound
which side of vehicle
date of which I glued.
