Had a message reply from Tekno, seems it's 2-3 months away.
I ran into the same problem using the BCE chassis. You can try moving the rear strap hole forward one notch and add a strip of foam to the back of the tray to prevent the center diff outdrive from making contact with the battery.

This what I received back last week from Tekno RC--
Hello,
Thanks for your interest in our products! We are going to be out of stock on the EB48.2 for another couple of months. When it comes back, it will be an updated version of the car we are working on right now, called the EB48.3. This project has a few more hurdles to complete before we can start production, so your patience is appreciated while we finalize the details. It will be worth the wait though, I promise! We have no other details about the new updated car at this time. Please visit our Facebook page for updates to this and other projects.
Best Regards,
-Zac Burnside

Thanks for the info suzukipro
I'm sure it will be worth the wait for those of us with .1's and .2's or another brand of ebuggy, but really sucks for those who really want a Tekno as a first ebuggy.
Best suggestion I could make to people is to pick up the cheapest used ebuggy you can find and put good electronics in it and you will get by ok until you can get an 8.3. Or unfortunately just look for another brand. I hate to say it as I love my Tekno's but there are plenty of other fast buggies out there and can't blame anyone for not wanting to miss out on the heart of the season.

Out of Curiosity what's a 48.2 roller worth? I have really nice .2 I would consider putting on the market as a roller if I could get a decent amount. I'll just hold out for the .3 and buy one later on. No electronics body or tires but really clean. Maybe I'll pick up a 410.3 for now.
