Unless I am missing something, pass-thru connectors would give you a paralell (pos to pos, neg to neg) connection, so it would still only be 2s, just double the milliamps. I don't see how you could configure it in series (for 4s) and still be able to access the bottom packs terminal.......To get 4s, you have to connect one neg to one pos, the take a lead off the other connection of each pack back to the esc. Do you have a plan for this that I'm not seeing?

Just flip one pack. The negative of one lines up to the positive of the other since they are pass thrus.

Then,you just hook your wires from your ESC to the outside + and - 's.

If I got time tonight I can take a pic and post.

you will absolutely NOT notice any power loss or top speed;
it just smooths out the initial bottom end hit! rolls power on smoother if you're throttle happy!

What 4s packs do you guys run? I normally run Protek, so I haven't looked into any other brand, but with the recent warranty change by A Main, I decided to switch battery brands this year.

So far I hear SMC and ProMatch. I'm looking for quality batteries only with great customer service.

I have been running the 2s Nanotech packs. These particular packs have hollow tubes so you can just drill a hole through the case and connect a bullet on the back of it. The downsides of using 2s though are that they are a good bit heavier in general and are more of a hassle to charge. The upside is that if you have them secured correctly in the battery tray, they have a longer lifespan than 4s packs.

Well those two would fit that bill, promatch having the longer warranty at 1 year.

What did Amain change?

Here are pics of the battery setup with the pass thru I mentioned:

Silly me, it did not even occur to me that you would be standing them on end as I always run single packs. I hope they're strapped in and supported well, I could see a serious impact possibly cracking the case with the rigid pass-thru.

I use SMC 6500's I had a couple of protek packs but they seemed to fall off a bit faster than even some nanotech's i've owned. I haven't really had the SMC's long enough be a fair comparison but i've gotten at least half a dozen good race days on one.

Yeah, standing them up allows the room you need.

I run foam stripping to take out any play, no different than I do with my 4S setups and Tekno's strapping method is great.

I have 2 trinity titanium 2s packs as a practice pack and they wont fit standing up ( too wide) so I wrapped tape around them so they wouldnt move and set them in normal...

I also picked up the SMC 6500 in September. So far so good. They have plenty of punch in them and seem to be lasting. Ive owned them in 2s and they were awesome/lasted, but did get a couple of small cracks in the case . I've been changing out batteries every year. Sell them off cheep to Get some fresh batteries and help someone starting out
