2 stage pistons...Do they work?
#61
Marcus, great work on these and all your other items. I am a caster owner and this will be gladly added to one of my most favorite rides. Thank you for your work and effort to help us slow people go faster and the fast people even faster.

I've seen clear losi xxx buggy shocks on here for sale before. I forget what they where from but I think they were really rare (I think they where XX proto typ shocks or something like that) but they where clear

Get shocks off OFNA JL10e TC. They are clear lexan ones. If you just want to observe how fluid goes through pistons on bench they should be sufficient I guess.

Dual stage shock pistons have been around for a while, RPM, Fioroni, SH and even Traxxas made them. It's about time somebody put some real effort into RC shock design (at a reasonable cost). The RC Shox pistons do look very promising. Here are some of the pistons I have tried over the years.

Fioroni pistons with a o-ring seal and milled out piston.

RPM plastic two stage pistons.

SH Z-Car shock pistons with a metal one-way valve.

Traxxas variable piston kit.

The HPI Vorza and the HB Ve8 have the same shocks do they not? If so I'm ordering a set today! Also, if you need a set of shocks from a Schumacher Cougar SV to measure I'd be happy to send you mine. I'd love a set of these pistons to try on that as well!

Yes, they are the same. I have both...no difference.

thanx for everyones interest and support! the pictures of the pistons on the site are actually 1.1" in diameter! it was too hard to get a good pic of the pistons in actual size. i can make the piston any size i want. What was going to do is get a pc of clear tube, cap one end and then turn the opposite end into what a normal shock looks with orings sealing the shaft. pretty easy actually, doesnt have to be precise just seal on the bottom. now when i have time to do it , that is more of an issue!
Mike i may need you to talk to mikey about MFG these things in bulk soon, my fingers are hurting! it takes longer to clean them up than it does to machine them!
Jtipsy, i appreciate your words. in these times of negativity its good to hear a non complaint every once in a while!

I looked at the website and it doesn't say what shocks you have them for. Is there one for the Losi SCTE 4x4? I'm deadlocked in the NC championship series one point behind the new leader (I was the leader until the last race
) and I could use any advantage possible.
I have a second, undriven truck that I could lend you the shocks for if you need a set to start from.

only way i can make them is to have at least one shock in front of me that way i know it will be right instead of going back and forth via the mail.
Timaaaaaaaaaaah, im going to make a much larger one for demonstration but thanx for the offer!
FastDmax i CAN make them that way but would prefer to have the shock in front of me. if your willing to take the risk that is fine with me!
