SC10 4x4 with Tekin SC4x and RX8 Settings

I'm not sure about running on a tight indoor track...all the tracks here are big 8th scale tracks (the GOOD SC guys are getting 7 laps in a 5 minute qualifier... I missed 7 laps by 4 seconds yesterday! )
With 80 degree ambients and super humid days, my motor is topping 140 with 16/62. I tend to run my pinion/spur mesh REALLY loose, so it's a bit noisy, but 32p gears have big teeth, and so far I haven't had a problem. I'd rather run it a little too loose than a little too tight.... too loose, you might blow a $5 spur....too tight and you might blow a $100 motor.
One thing I've noticed with 16/62 gearing is that the motor is almost right smack dab in the center of the mount....Not sure, but that might be allowing a little more air flow around it, and that's why my temps aren't getting as high as others in the same ambient temps running smaller gearing...the airflow around the back side of the motor might be getting choked against the rear of the chassis...
I'm also thinking the current limiter set at 80 is helping to keep my temps in check by not pushing too much juice to the motor...

put on a bigger pinion. your over reving and that also causes heat

can we put our motor wind in every post I am losing track of who is running what
rx8/sc4x 4.5T 13/62 sc10 4x4 120-130 degrees but kind of soft on bottom and mid then rips up tops

The RS Pro "can" work for some but the majority will thermal the unit even when setup properly. I can thermal it pretty quickly as long as there's traction.
The Rx8 is simply a better choice. It's cheaper, has a stronger 5 amp bec, and can run 3s without any issues.

With 80% current limiting, it kind of seems a LITTLE sluggish off the line, but on hardpack dry clay, I don't want 100% power to the wheels on take off anyway!
Wheelspin = inefficient + difficult to control + excessive tire wear!
So far, I feel 80% is a good balance so that my untrained trigger finger can cope with the power under accelleration, but it also still lets me hit max speed about half way down the long straight, and can still top out by the braking point of the two shorter straights.
(Also, can we please try to stay on topic? This thread isn't about RS vs RX8...there are other threads for that, thanks...)

Im with you on limiting power, I dont want to not be able to control the truck. Can you post up either a link to a thread explaining the slipper fix or instructions on what you did and what size space, where it went? Are the HD pads different from the ones that come with the kit?

RX8...
I am using the RX8 as well and I have been working on being as smooth as possible with the gas rather than reduce power with the current limiter. It is hard to do at times but when I need all the punch to clear a jump it is there. I am currenlty running a 4.5 motor as well Not Tekin but same turn.
