Tacon Motor
Is this the equivalent of a 550 can motor? Wondering if this would do well in a Hyper 10SC w/MMP on 2S

that one would do nice but is a little smaller then a 550 motor at 60mm long. a 550 is 70mm long like this one

That 4074 is the equivilant to the Castle 1515 2200, that comes in the 1/8 scale stuff. Would not be a good choice for 2s in a SC, from my experience. The 3660 would be alright, but just a half step bigger then a 540 motor. The 3674 would probably be the best choice, if you can deal with the size, to be sure temps aren't an issue http://www.hobbypartz.com/96m214-3674-2800kv-6t.html Though the 2800 KV is a little lower then I like for 2s, it should still be OK.

Is there a Tacon motor that would be legal for 17.5 stock sct? I thought it would be 2200kv or something but I'm not sure.
Thanks

Are Tacon 4 pole or 2? I thought I heard 4 pole but cannot confirm it.

I just bought a Tacon 3650 to go in a SC10. Will it still be ok?

I am currently using the Tacon 3674 size motor on a 3s setup and I love this setup so far. The motor barely gets hot and the truck pulls really good. The 3674 motor is a 4 pole motor though while the 3660 size is only a 2 pole. I'm looking to go down to the 2s setup so I can compete at the local track with the guys.

The KV seems a little high so make sure you gear the motor correctly and check the temps to make sure the motor does not go past 170. I am currently using the Tacon 3650 3500kv motor in my slash 4x4 and the motor runs really nice. Compared to the stock motor that came with it the power seems to be around the same, but the Tacon seems to run a few degrees cooler.

So that means that all the 1/10th tacons are 2 poles, and the only 4 poles ones are for 1/8th's?
And since you work for Hobbypartz, any idea when your getting more hobbywing esc's back in stock? You've been sold out for months....
I've tried the sensored 540 tacon motor in my sc10 4x4, it had great response and very good top end speed with no cogging at all, but that was until I destroyed it from overheating, but I probably had it geared to high and was to small of a motor to handle the 4x4 sc10....
But i still like the performance of the tacons and you can't beat the prices.....

Now for the Hobbywing ESC's those will not be coming in anytime soon. That's pretty all I can say at the moment
I will be putting a 17.5 and a 13.5 Sensored Leopard motor in my new Losi 22 buggy and see how well those motors work. Too bad the sensored Tacon motor have vented holes on the can. I hope dirt does not damage them.

Yea I'm pretty sure all the 1/10th motors are 2 poles. But I could be wrong so let me check with the factory specs tomorrow when I get back in the office.

I didn't see any 17.5 or 13.5 sensored tacon's got a direct link to them?

Sorry long night. I made a typo. The Leopard motors are available in 17.5T and 13.5. I can't post a link since I just registered on RCtech. Tacon is only available in 6.5, 8.5, and 10.5 which is only good for the mod class.
