Thanks a million Fred. Just started the thread. I have emptied the shocks and re-installed on buggy. VERY tough to see any difference. I have to make drastic changes to see any difference in the rate the buggy rises after the drop. Difficult to tell the difference between frequency and volume.(referring to previous analogy). Not giving up though. Just getting started.

Imbalance on a Carisma GT14B 1/16 buggy:

I haven't done enough posts to post links, please replace the * with a w.
Used a slowmo app on my iphone to see it, hard to see on the small scale cars otherwise. It was easier to see with the naked eye on a 1/8 buggy.

This thread does not have massive traffic, but is far from dead.
Yes, looks like rear is rising faster in videos you quoted. Hard to see though, best with quality high res camera and focus on the top of the shock towers.
Main thing is to check is whether front/rear is waaaay off. Pretty easy to see that. When it gets so close you can't tell, you should be good to start with oils/pistons.
This thread is like my grandpa; full of good information but sometimes grumpy and hard to talk to...
Just look at Fred's longer posts, paste them together like a book and you have a pretty cool tuning guide.

so anyone got a setup they used to get balance with a Tekno SCT410?
Pistons, oil, springs?
I am wondering if maybe people posting things like that for a given vehicle and conditions can be helpful?

It would at least give us a place to start as far as knowing which springs to buy. I did this technique with my Losi SCTE but I haven't done it yet with my Tekno. It's all dependent on the weight at each wheel as well and that changes for most people.

In the posted videos, it looks to me the front (green end) is rising faster than the rear (white end).
What you need to look at is the angle of the chassis as it rises after the initial release but before it hits the uptravel limits for the shocks. The first frame or two after the guy releases his finger, you can see the bottom of the chassis is sloped upwards. This tells me his front shocks were stiffer than his rear shocks.

I have a AE b5m. I got a selection of springs in today. I tried all the combinations even the one I expected not to work. I have one set of springs that are balanced. Guess what the ones that came in the kit. I did move the top of the shock on the rear to the outside hole to get as balanced as I think I do. So It looks like I need to buy more springs in case these are to soft. Don't think they will be though. (What do I know, its been over 20 years.) One double followed by triple. sharpest 180 going into them and a banked 180 at the other, not as tight. Other than that the rest of them are fast flyers. Oil tomorrow, and testing Saturday.

We would also like to thank you for the advice you have given in your posts. Since following your advice we stopped copying set-ups and have learnt so much about creating a balanced car. Thank you again.

So, are you saying that all the top drivers in the world are setting up their cars wrong?

Vinny stop trolling the thread, go back and read the whole thing, his methods, and theories are all explained very well, including having tested "pro" setups and the results they produced, just because they don't use the "method" doesn't mean they don't achieve the same results.
