Wiring the same packs both in series and parallel is not a good idea, don't do that! It will create an instant short circuit and melt the solder points and/or ruin the packs..

Some updates....
The bracket itself. http://img715.imageshack.us/img715/5703/img0005nsu.jpg Servo mounted http://img824.imageshack.us/img824/1344/img0008fmm.jpg In the car for the looks http://img94.imageshack.us/img94/9832/img0007yhz.jpg The esc and receiver test mounted http://img714.imageshack.us/img714/1575/img0010zhd.jpg 4 new holes... http://img36.imageshack.us/img36/7881/img0012hk.jpg Receiver in place http://img851.imageshack.us/img851/8364/img0013nc.jpg Everything in place... http://img820.imageshack.us/img820/3066/img0014bhi.jpg Even if this mod did shave some weight and lowered the cg, the biggest advantage is in my eyes the new clean layout. And not to mention the shorter motor cables. And yes, its tight between the front driveshaft and the steering link. But no touch. The last piece of the bracket that is visible is for the transponder. |
i would never do that to my serpent, but to each his own. props for being different tho

Yes, its up to each person to do what ever he wants. The original 811BE is a very well constructed car. But in my eyes its a bit to complicated. And its not dangerous to modify things. Me myself is a very examining person. And is there things that brings things into better solutions, I do it directly.
Honestly, is there anyone that can give me one reason for me not to do this modification? And please, I dont wanna hear anything about "the dangerous" to modify something from its original and that it brings the value down.... there is no value in this and particularly after two laps at the local racetrack, 4 more holes in the chassie doesnt matter at all.... |

I think you misunderstand me, the parallel circuit will supply the servo and separately the series circuit will supply the esc. if you were trying to connect both a series circuit and parallel to the esc then yes it would be bad.
Let's call the packs A and B, so in the series connection A+ is connected to B-, A- to ESC- and B+ to ESC+. The parallel connection is A- to B- to S-, A+ to B+ to S+. It means that B- is connected to both A+ and A-, so pack A is shorted. Similarly A+ is connected to B- and B+, so pack B is shorted as well. |
I'm away on business at the moment I can post pictures in a week. If you have an rx8 esc you can remove the red wire from the servo plug. Then run a new positive wire from the series jumper to your rx. The grounds are the same, this will pull voltage from one pack only to power your radio system.

The control you get from the rx8 is well worth any risk. It's very noticeable. I ran the MMM for a while in 1/8 e car and the MMP in the short course. Once I put the rx8 in they drove like different cars. I hadn't had any issues so far with the rx8 (^^^knock on wood^^^) I do cary a spare with me :D
