This buggy would be nice with the new Orion R8 Pro and their new 1/8 scale motors...Dialed!

does the buggy come with the aluminum shock towers? i seen there alot of "option" parts on the buggy in the pictures.

I was told it would come with the Carbon towers. The carbon towers hold up great, just spend 5 min preparing the edges before hitting the track the first time. As for the option 2 steering rack and some other things in the pictures I am not aware of what setup parts are going to be coming on the buggy.

Would be interesting to run two 3S lipos in it with a low kv motor

I was thinking the same thing. Thats why I wanted to know what the exact battery box size was.

heavyjeffd 07-25-2011 09:03 PM

I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard to raise the height of the "hinge" to accommodate taller batteries.

OMG it looks so sick I want one sooo bad Chad said soon but not soon enough. I love the fact they didn't just come out with a conversion its a completely new design which states a lot for serpent. Their are willing to put the effort making quality products.

I can see it on 4S (using a higher amp connector), but these are 2S batteries. I've had a fine record with Deans on 2S.

4S or 2S, makes no difference, 2S 5000 30C and 4S 5000 30C both capable of supplying the same current (amps). Volts make little difference in the amount of heat generated in this application.

I've run Traxxas and Deans and i find EC5's are a far superior connector.

but no need to run any actual connectors on this set up, i'd just run bullet plugs straight into the packs.

Talked with Serpent America yesterday. Looks like delivery has been delayed to the end of this August. This is looking just like the 22 deal, with all the missed dates. My bet is we won't actualy see the car here until late September or early October. Btw Serpent America Gave me The same excuse they always give "It's not our fault, our suppliers give us dates and they don't hit them or seem to pay any attention to them"

heavyjeffd 08-04-2011 07:00 AM

Serpent America is just the American distributor for Serpent.

It really isn't their fault. :P

It's typically a manufacturing hold up.

I've got close to 9 gallons on my 811 chassis and have not really broken anything. I've finally worn out the center diff sun gear just from use. Other than that I've only replaced bearings regularly before big races (as you should).

Great car, if built right it's extremely durable.

My local serpent guys say the same thing! I'm just paranoid that something will brake and i'll kick my self for not having a spare! :P Guess that durability is one of the reasons i'm getting this car huh? Thanks.
