I was on a tq run and at about 4 min 15 seconds that motor melted down. It was around 200 when I temped it. My friend was also running a 540 7.5 in his coming off around 200 every run so why does the lrp keep in truckin but the viper puked on its 1st pack? This has made me scared to try another 540. The motor ran awesome for the 4 minutes it did run. It had more grunt and top end then the sc4x 5.5 I was running previous. I would like to give the 540 another chance but I do not want to smoke another motor. I already have a NEW Tekin 540 6.5

Hey man, I run lrp 550's in my truck and they come off at 210-220 consistantly. I talked to maifield who showed up at comp hobbies friday night and he said thats normall for our motors. Lrp's run a little hotter than the rest and he said its no problem, its just in there design.

Agree , Lrp 550 runs around 190+ , yet their "rip" is superior to any other 550 I have tried ....

Tip: switch off coast brake when using above ...

Yep, its normal, that's one of the reasons for using a "Decoupled" slipper, something has to give.

you do have to hit the throttle

I run 15 minutes max with the 3800 4-pole 5600mah 50c 2s ip stickpack

That sounds like the runtimes I'm having with the same motor. 12-13 min with a 5000mAh 45C (large 1/8th track).

...or the Robinson Racing 32 pitch pinions. I have both Traxxas and RR pinions and I like the RR better.

One thing I heard using the Tekin RSpro is that if you are in sensor mode and have it at zero the speed control still has 15 deg of timing added. Something about the speed control using the sensor can see the rotor coming. You have to be in blinky mode or duel mode for zero timing. I notice my motor ran hotter in sensor mode. Not sure if other brands have this problem too.

I just went based off what the AE guy running the 6.5 (Wacther) on the AE setup sheets was running for a starting point
http://www.teamassociated.com/pdf/ca...ut_Wachter.pdf
Cav and Numedahl both run 5.5's and have their gearing listed as 16/93... I guess AE team guys can afford to run overgeared or they have special motors or torque rotors and don't mention it on their setup sheets.

I dont know how but I have seen 2 brand new LRP's X12L 5.5 turns motors go dead in this truck.
both times the truck was in top shape and driven by one of holland's top drivers.

based on good experiances with the speed passion silver arrows V1.0 I just orderd the silver arrow v2.0 5.5 turns and Im returning my brand new X12L 5.5

bad luck or bad karma or bad batch I dont know, but as you might guess, I have little faith in the X12L 5.5

but happy for you guys its running ok

When using 540 motors, I recommend using the motor manufacturer's largest rotor option. For LRP 540 motors, this is the 13mm option.

Maybe i should get a 14mm rotor for my Tekin 6.5 then or would the 13mm be enough?

Did you roach your Viper VST? If not hit me up on PM, I have a 13mm rotor for you.

When are those viper 4 pole esc combos that are under $200 coming out.

I had horrible luck running the V2's from Speed Passion, the V1 was a much better motor. I could not get them to run in my SCRT without heat issues, I had to switch back to the V1's.

Are they available both sensored and non sensored in a combo?

Yup, sensorless is coming first, then sensored will follow... Combo's only.
