So I picked up a 550 5.5 in the hopes of giving my truck a bit more punch out of the corners. I love my 8.5 540 and do okay with it but I certainly don't have the power in some areas of the track that others obviously have. I keep playing with different driving styles to improve corner speed but I'm not sure that's it.

So now I see people taking out 4.5 550s and going with 8.5 540s...That's about right for me.

^^ Wait for Pro4? or upgrade to the 13mm rotor on the sc4x 550...

First off i must add I'm indoors. small track. Also I run an RsPro so I just added some boost and some timing and viola I'm pulling those Tekin 4.5's down the straight and jumping the same jumps. I just have a more controllable power band and a happy car. an 8.5 will have more toque than a 5.5 outa the box tho. gear it for some torque and when you add timing your adding rpm which changes the whole game. :D My racing buddy did the same swap but he used a Tekin 9.5 and that thing is just as fast. the rspro is the equalizer.

i just rebuilt my shocks with the trackstar o-rings... They leak worse then they did with the stock rings... Any suggestions of what i may have done wrong?

I got some seat time today with a losi scte with same electronics as what im running. I was actually pleasently impressed with it. It drove straight like a missle unlike my tailwaggin sc10 4x4. It deffinatley lacked in on power steering and steering radius.....I think its a great truck and will do some things better then sc10 and some worse. Im glad I got a chance at driving both now. I am still considering buying a losi to play around with. There 3 of us that drove each truck and both liked each in its own way. The track owner at AMS (Mike) like his AE better as he feels he can be faster with the AE as its lighter and more nimble.....at AMS my best lap has been a 22.8 pretty consistantly 23.6 range and Mike ran a 21.9 with my sc10 4x4 and a 22.0 with the losi back to back. He is a great driver with either car. Everyone was in awe watching him around the track. We all walked away saying its all about the driver not as much about the car.

Nothing. The fact that he acted like he was a superior human being because he ran some slow-moving machinery that works in ten-thousandths of an inch and had a Mustang was what ThunderbirdJunkie pointed out. His T-birds have all been Fox bodies :P

Anybody used OG RC8 springs on their trucks? ThunderbirdJunkie feels the need for a stiffer front spring come indoor season.

I'm gonna stick with my 1410 3800 until the pro4 4000kv from tekin comes out.

ThunderbirdJunkie's got yellows up front now...if they had 5.0 or 5.2 rate front springs, that would probably be almost perfect for indoor.

Lol, I run a Makino A81M horizontal, it's a million dollar machine. I'm running Titanim tension links for Boeing 777. Very tight tol. Bores +~.0002 with 4 komet boring heads and 4 different size bores lol.

My only point with the Jconcepts stuff is it's a small company and you were trashing them when clearly they make decent products, maybe not made in the USA but still good IMO. Also I might mention that the parts are made ultra light for racing. I understand their products aren't for everybody but I love them. Oh well, it's really hard out there to stay in business with people trashing your company so openly on the web. It's another ballgame!

The more you argue about it, the more ThunderbirdJunkie will bring up that he thinks it's all cheaply made crap that's exactly the same price as their competitors' products. So what if they're a small company? Most small companies make good stuff and the big ones make junk (IE Durango vs Traxxas). ThunderbirdJunkie does NOT say something is bad unless he believes it's bad, it is never baseless. He never tried to change anybody's mind about the stuff, either...that would be silly. I have geared it at 18/93 currently and yes IMO it runs alot cooler and faster then either of the sc4x motors I had....I am also going to try gearing it at 13/62 and go from there...... With my current gearing the motor came off at 145 or so after about a 5+ run esc at 120 or so, and when I owned the sc4x's geared at 12/62 motor came off at about 160+ if i remember correctly don't remember the esc temps, and I didn't even run it as long as the castle motor...... So if you prefer your 550 can then thats up to you, as I have my own preference as well....... Only other motor I will run on my sc10 will be the new tekin 4 pole when it arrives to my door.....
