so with a lrp sxx comp v2 and a thunderpower 7.5 with the high torque rotor I can run about 8 or 9 min and it gets really hot "180" I have it geared at 14/93 on the 48p I was at 16/93 but it got hotter. Anyway I called thunderpower and asked them and they said I was overgeared and need to be more around a 12.0 FDR which would be a 20/93. I've never ran into the case were it got hot by being to low on the gears i'm thinking its just not enough for the truck. I also have the clicker on to reduce heat.

The weird thing is the book recomends a 17/93.. Any advice would be helpful before I try it and fry it "so I think".

so switched to a lrp 6.5 with the 13mm ht rotor and man what a diffrence. I tried the 16t and it was crazy fast went to a 14t and set the track record for 4wd sc in it. ran it for 12 min and it was 200 but the diffrence is the lrp didn't loose any punch but the thunderpower when it got hot the throttle got soggy like and felt dead. Now my truck is unbeleivable and i'm planning on going 2 for 2 on tq and win this weekend

So you didn't like the thunder power motor that much? I've been looking at those, saw one in a TC6R and it was unbelievable fast and quick! Layin down raw power!

I bought the new ft shock bodies & shafts & reused 3 of the 4 shock cartridges with no problem. I had 1 cartridge that I kinda deformed its hex while trying to unscrew it from the blue shock body, so I thought I would try a new cartridge. So I got 2 new cartridges & they both would not thread onto the new ft bodies...as if the threading on the cartridge was just a bit off because they both would thread on for the first few threads & then they really tightened up. In the end I was able to salvage the old cartridge. I've read that others also have had some issues. I'm going to send the new cartridges back to AE, hopefully they know of the issue.

if you are running a 17.5 its good but anything close to a mod motor and the sensor boards are junk. I've went through three of them. brought one back and they sent it back after just hooking it up to power spinning it and saying its good, but if you know about sensor boards they have to be under a load to notice its messed up. I will never buy another one and i know a couple others that agree with me. In my opinion you can get a trinity duo 3 or there are others for the same price and will be way better with way better customer service.

I had the same problem. I killed 3 cartridges with the cross threading. What a PITA

yea you need a cap.

That did it! LOL a $5.00 dongle actually did the job...wish Specktrum would've just included it.

yeah, I remember the issues back in the day with the older spektrums like the SR3000 really needing the cap. Seems these new high power servos, etc just cause all kind of funny stuff to happen with certain ESCs and receivers.

I ran a lrp 3.5 540 with an lrp spx8 and it was BALLISTIC!!! i know its not a "rx8" but i hope that my .02¢ atleast gives you something that your looking for.

so, anyone got some new setup info with the following options being used:

- clutch basket
- springs other than the stockers
- swaybars

With a 5.5 540 I have been running timing at zero so anything that can handle the load would be a good speed control.

Chassis brace

I finally got around to making a chassis brace/top deck.

It's a CF square rod placed in b/w the shock towers to counter the belt tension and keep the main chassis straight. As you can see in the pics, my belt tunnel is straightened back out. Sorry for no before pic, but if you have a 4x4 and have been running it for a while, you know what i mean.

So which is better saddle packs or stock stick configuration?
