2wd carpet muncher

I recently converted my truck to 2wd to run parking lots with my buddy. Now I've taken it carpet racing and it was good but needs help. Biggest issue is the rear end unloading under braking and shifting all the weight to the front and causing it to roll.
I think limiters in the rear shocks will be the fix,or do I need stiffer springs in the front too?

took the old truck out LAST FRIDAY NIGHT indoor loose track and I must say this is by far the better sct 4x4 built . very easy to turn under your completion and no push at all like the other 2 sct companies. TQ easy and set up is so easy to get this truck around track fast

It can certainly still be a good car, though I think now everyone has moved on from them here in terms of racing, but they still find buyers in the used market.

Actually sold mine about a month ago, finally. Kind of a shame, but with the SCTE being the better of the two plus having built it from the ground up instead of having gotten it used... the choice was clear at that point. Although having now been to two indoor races with it, I still think the SCTE 3.0 purchase was perhaps unnecessary to begin with at my level of driving. Mind you, I am/was slightly faster and more consistent with the SCTE, especially in jumps, but even so. I did keep the original SC10 4x4 shocks and spring set, though. I'm actually currently using those in my SCTE for indoor use so I didn't have to mess with my original SCTE shocks setup for outdoor! And they work nicely.

Still hoping AE would release a new 4x4 SCT though. Not that it would make sense to buy it with my SCTE being so new, but more contenders in the class wouldn't be a bad thing! In the meanwhile, still driving the SC10 4x4 around in VRC Pro...

the truck is still by far better it never breaks . front diff 7000 and rear 3000 . indoor the truck is so good too . there was only 3 true built sct 4x4 trucks Ae and team c and traxxas others are just so heavy

The SC10 4x4 is quite durable, but then so are the other 4x4s. I did manage to destroy a shock tower on the SC10 4x4 once, nothing so far on the SCTE 3.0. Both have taken quite nasty tumbles. The SCTE is only 200g heavier than the SC10, not such a big deal. But the SC10 is a nimble platform, it should indeed do quite well on technical indoor tracks. The biggest downside with it was doing maintenance. I hate doing maintenance on any car, but that one was the worst I've had.

At any rate it's all about using what works for you, and certainly the SC10 4x4 isn't a bad car even today. If it was, it wouldn't have been winning championships back in the day. It has far more potential that I ever will

Set up

Does any one have a setup for a small tight clay dirt track with turns. Been out the game for awhile gonna go racing indoor tonight with the 4x4. I'm pretty sure my last outside large track setup is not good or my tire choice for that matter. But would like to get this as close as I can. Im gonna run the battery on the side for now lost my saddle packs somewhere got news one on order. This is 100% stock kit here. Thanks in advance. O average track time around the 18 second mark I guess.

not many setups out there, petitrc may be an option I see only 2 clay setups out there but they may give you a good starting point.

I went in there all over tha place on the track started to dial out most of the truck. Did not do anything great at all. first time indoors. So going from lose to tight high traction made for a very twitchy car lol. Al thought I did pick up 4 second of my on my averaged lap time from first quial to the main. But still of the fast guy lap time by about 6 or 7 seconds. Small track so I'm think I be looking for of power steering into the turn or exit. I see how it does since I drop to 10k and 7 k in the diff next outing in a week or so.

On the RC10.com web site they still have the setups from when they produced this truck (look under "Legacy Vehicles" on the cars & Trucks section. There should be a couple of indoor/clay setups there. As far as tires, try whatever tire the other makes/models of 4wd SC are running TODAY at your local track. Smallish, indoor, clay tracks are where the SC10 4x4 generally ran the most competitive, so you should be good to go with a "in the ball park" set-up.

I went looking though some of the site and this thread took a small refresher course I guess. So after being out of the hobbies for 5 years. I think I got a good idea of what need to change gonna have to do some testing when I can.

Easy question

I need to know what the designation number is for the ae sc10 4x4 shaft drive

rustyus 11-28-2019 03:21 PM

skipdg, you're talking about the ProLite, or ProSC 4x4. Correct?

skipdg 11-28-2019 05:54 PM

Sc10 4x4

That's where I'm running into a brick wall
I can't find any indication that any of those had a shaft drive

TimF 11-28-2019 06:21 PM

The original sc10 4x4 was a belt drive. Ae (or no aftermarket kit im aware of) made a shaft convertion (not sure how a shaft could be fitted to the ‘dual’ stealth transmissions on the sc10 4x4. The other (newer rtr) ae 4wd kits had a shaft drive

Knocking the dust off

Going to take my SC10 4x4 out for a couple of test laps tomorrow in preparation for the CRCRC Winter Midwest Electric Championship. Haven’t driven it in about 4 years (Cactus Classic) but rebuilt the diff and shocks, and made sure everything was smooth. Also installed a new Hobbywing EZRUN MAX10 SCT 4000KV. I’m excited to see how it does at the Factory. By far my favorite RC car I’ve ever drove, so easy to setup and still very competitive. Sucks that SCT and 4x4 are dying. Be nice if Associated would come out with a new SCT 4x4 or ST 4x4. oh well, I’ll keep driving it till I can’t find any parts.

For the post above, you can find plenty of setup sheets online if you type “SC10 4x4 setup”. Than go to image (in google”. Most time the link won’t work from the image, but you can still view the setup sheet. I personally like Kody Numedahi’s. Works great on any indoor track I’ve been to, with small tweaks and the right tires.
