Has anyone used the Ace/Ae Ds 1313 or DS1015 servo's. Jusy curious of the power draw and dependabilty. Plan on putting one of there in the Sc10. I have always had Airtronics but there better one are getting well over priced I even started looking at the $25 HK ones but I know I will go thru 2 a year at least

Was told that they won't make a kit because the don't have a certain size and wont make that size for one kit. I have seen that avid has a custom build kit and Boca has a couple (cheap priced and expensive priced, nothing in between). My question to all of you is are the AE bearings fine for racing or should I be trying to get a good aftermarket kit?
Are the Avid bearings good? How are their ceramic bearings? For those of you who may know, what custom Avid bearing kit would you recommend?
Are there any other companies that make good quality bearing upgrade kits for this rig?
I want to install these when I get and build my Factory Team kit.
Thanks guys.

Just go through your manual and write down the bearing sizes.I use fast eddy bearings there excellent.Any bearing is a buck a piece.

Have the DS 1313 in mine, no issues with it since half a year now (practice and 3 races as far as I remember). Just got a used DS 1015 as well, didn't have the chance to try it yet but it should be even better :).

Where do i begin! Its pretty much been a disastrous weekend, i seem to always have stupid crap happen to me throughout big race weekends. I know its coming and pretty much expect it but yesterday drained my soul!! So because of where i live i wanted to leave at 5:30 to avoid monster traffic as my car is pretty much a race car with a liscense plate! (585whp STI!!) We were told the track would be open for practice at 8am. so i get to the track around 6:45 as planned, gates opened at 8, I unload everything and get on the track. ran about 10 laps with my Ebuggy and SC and the the RD kicks us off the track and tells us it wont be open until noon???? This was a little frustrating but since i at least got a few laps down on a very slick track i needed to make some changes anyway.
Fast fwd to noon, track opens i had changed fluids on my buggy ,get on the track and out of the blue........POOOF flash fire and lots of smoke! I was able to get out there fast enough to pull the batt plugs and save a complete melt down but it fried my RX,batts and yet another ESC albiet a HW so i dont feel bad about it but sucks none the less. Didnt get upset just means that i have more time to work on SC! I also had ordered some batteries monday that didnt ship out until thursday so its already been a rough start....

The layout was awesome and at first i thought it would be advantageous for the AE. There is a set of quads and also a 35' set of triples that had a 30' straight run up to them. For the first three rounds of SC practice i was turning the quickest laps and my truck seemed to be dialed but i knew as grip came up i would need to make some changes and the track would get faster. What i didnt expect was the Losi's to start jumping the quads and the triples! This caused issues , me and every other SC10 couldnt either one with consistency so this forced me to once again go to drastic changes. Every Sc10 out there seemed to have the same characteristics in big air. The inability to bring the front end down and/or up wreaked havoc and inconsistency. I could do it but not comfortably or even twice in a row...... Sym and I were the only ones there with centerdifs so that had nothing to do with it, not all of us had 2 stage so that wasnt it. I think its a combo of design and weight, maybe some sort of gyro effect from the belt/motor? I THINK I JUST ANSWERED MY OWN QUESTION!THE TRUCK JUMPS LIKE MY RM4 DURANGO DEX21O.......
I am not going to lie, i was discouraged at this point and went through MANY changes and finally got to where it was much better but every other freakin lap i would lose a steering rod end from anything less than a perfect landing????? that never happens but it happened at least a dozen times in 3 sessions. SO what i came up with to help out the situation is a brought all of the arm mounting points to the inside, added max brake in the esc, increased rear oil up 2.5. All of this added together made me feel more comfortable at least where i think i could be competitive, so i went home rested a bit and then installed captured ball ends on the steering linkage.
About midnight the storms rolled in and i mean hard enough to where my kids came downstairs power went off and we has sever flash flooding. Enough to where i could not even get out of the driveway this morning, I took this as a sign and just stayed home. BUT I stuck with the truck and didnt take the easier route and just switch to an SCTE (which i had in my trunk!) I pretty sure i can come up with something to help with this characteristics which indoors or in no wind is not a big deal but outdoors it is.

WHAT A DAY:lol:

running xp 1015 in mine, don't know about power draw, but just using it with stock bec on havoc pro sc, holds turns strong. recommend running a glitch buster

i think you braved it out pretty well, you didn't smash anything and retained your composure pretty well! did you find out what caused the melt down? i am just curious as i am always checking my wire routing so i don't have this happen to me. i had a motor smoke once because i used too long a screw when i installed it and it went into the windings, must have been a senior moment,so now i am a bit more cautious !!! fear not better days are coming!!! :D:cool:

well it unsoldered the positive lead out of the ESC if that means anything. nothing changed , i ran the car just as it was that morning, didnt change anything and i have been running it this way for weeks, just how i roll!!

from exotek about the battery height with there inline setup:

From chassis to belt cover is 36mm so you should have plenty of room for the Exotek straps ;)
You may just want to add some spacers under the posts to raise them up higher.

can't argue with math

Nope!

Even without the saddles I'm blown away. Think of a hand held video camera panning left to right. Now think of the same shot, with a steady-cam setup. That was the difference for me. LOCKED IN.:batman:

Cheers,

Go back to Factory set-up Cody & the Ryans R using I posted ..... ;)

Then eat mass cheese (practice) & like a track rat ....

You are making things far to complicated for making jumps .

Problem not the set-up as much as you think or believe...

AE should take a page from Blizzard's handbook. Don't set release dates....you never meet them. "It will be released when it is ready. That is all."

the iX8 has been set as "available late October".....then late November....now we're hearing late February.

I will be happy to see the FT available for the end of the season. No expectations of seeing it sooner.

Bet U they will have in the shops way before you expect ....

that is, in about 2 or 3 weeks ....

BlueGlowBoy 02-04-2012 02:12 PM

Hmmm.interesting....because from what I have read, watched and inferred, Mantis is on the track 2-4 times/week for hours at a time....has probably launched his truck into the air 50,000-80,000 times already....probably has nearly the same amount of track time as full-ride sponsored drivers... I trust what the dood says.
