For the low-maintenance, electric, durable and tough areas you could look into the SC trucks. The Slash seems to be the basher's favorite for it's durability while it doesn't do as well on the track because of its high center of gravity. HPI, Losi, and AE all make good SC trucks too more for racing.

Power and speed would require lipo batteries with a mod motor. It just depends on what you're trying to do (bash or race in a certain class). SC trucks aren't the fastest of the bunch, you might want to then look into a buggy.

Traxxas is your answer. There tuff outta the box, parts are available everywhere. I would suggest any Traxxas 2wd 1/10. As for speed, maintance and runtime you should pick up a VXL model. They are brushless and are alot faster, give better runtimes(about 20% more on the same pack) and brushless motors dont lose efficency and speed over time. Brushed motors need rebuilt or replaced after multipal runs. But in personal opinion short course trucks arent that great "all around bashers" they have small wheels. They are pretty much useless in grass. If you plan on running around the neighborhood I would look at stadium trucks( TRX Rustler). Give you the speed and handling of a buggy, but the ground clearence of a truck. But what ever appeals to you I guess. Bandit, Slash, Rustler, Stampede
