Depends who is working on the set-up and driving. There are people (not me) that could take a "basher" and outrun most anyone with a full out race vehicle. Buy the one you want.
I bought a Vorza and not to bash. I had never driven anything but 1/10 electric offroad and wanted to see what 1/8 scale brushless was about. I researched the Losi, RC8BE, the Vorza and a couple of others. I am sure that I would really like any one that I would have bought. I just thought the Vorza would be a good vehicle to start out with for me. The car just appears strong and beefy (yes it is heavy). I am not out to win state races, nationals or anything like that. I just like going to the track and racing. My goal is simply to learn to adjust the car and make quicker laps by improving the car and my driving. If I come in last, so be it. It is still more fun than sitting at home. Now as for how my Vorza experience has been. I have been to the local races a total of 3 times (once with my T4 brushless and 2 times now with the Vorza). My clean lap times in the T4 were in the 35-36 second range and my clean laps the first time out with the Vorza were in the 32 second range. That was in total box stock form with kit tires and all. It was just to provide a base line of where to start from. The second time out I just tried to clean up my lines and my clean lap times were about 1-2 seconds quicker. Next steps in my plan, adjust the ESC, change diff fluid to a better 5-5-3 setup, change shock oil and replace the worn kit tires with a softer compound and tread more suited for the track. Then I will see where my lap times go from there. They may improve, they may not. But with every change to the car and every lap I am learning what the car likes and what it doesn't. Am I on the right path? I have no idea. But I am having fun an that is why I am doing it.

As most have stated, it is 90% driver, 10% car, especially at the beginning. When you get really good at driving thats when the car differences and set up really start to shine. I am on my second season with a Tekno converted Losi 8 buggy and I am having a blast. I bought mine used off this forum and it was a great package deal. You may want to keep an eye out for an e buggy in the for sale forums. There are several now including some RC8e's, losi's, mugens and kyoshos. I nearly bought a converted Mugen a couple days ago to replace my Losi, but then I thought... I am still learning, my lap times aren't consistant enough, and I already have a bunch of Losi parts. Why start over with a new car when there is nothing wrong with mine.
Just get what you want and start turning laps and have fun!
