If there is rust on them then they are not Titanium , shoot them down with some WD40 and let them sit a while then wipe off the WD40 and they should be clean .

I was thinking the same thing (titanium doesn't rust) but I do have rust on my Losi titanium tie rods Cheap titanium I guess.

Pure titanium doesn't rust, but the titanium that turnbuckles are made from is 6-4 titanium alloy. (6% Aluminum, 4% vanadium) Pure titanium is rather weak, very flexible, and shears easily.

6-4 Ti WILL get a patina on the metal. Nothing to worry about, some wd40 and steel wool will remove it. Don't worry about it being "cheap" Ti, 6-4 is optimal for the application.

I'm pretty sure the stock sc10 has steel turnbuckles, the FT has titanium, but regardless, what others have sugested should work, but I don't think its possible for titanium turnbuckles to rust

I would think 3-2.5 ti would be better. Not as rigid, and "brittle", it should bend a bit instead of snapping, plus it is easier to work.

Google search "popsci how to tell if metal is titanium"
(Sorry, too new to post links yet)

Popular Science shows quite clearly how to tell if it's really titanium (and I've tried this with my Lunsford titanium hinge pins...it is a much brighter spark)

Bearing in mind that there are many different titanium alloys...with different properties.

But "Titanium" has been used as a branding/marketing thing....

Kind of like the Slash Platinum....I challenge anyone to find a single molecule of platinum in the truck....
