Default Savox Problem

hey guys, fairly new to the sct scene.

Ive been spending bit of time and money on my Sc10, i have bought a 12Kg didgital Savox servo and it seems to be playing up ?

Every time I turn suddenly and hold left/right the servo seems to surge/cut continuesly ????

I can turn slowly and it is fine ?

If i am accelerating and turn suddenly at the same time it will surge both steering and the throttle ??

Im running a dx3s radio. The F Rate is 11ms lowest radio can go.

servo specs:Weight (g)52.4
speed 0.08. (does that < mean that my radio is to slow)
torque 12

thanks, kyle

What Speed Controller are you using? It sounds like the BEC is struggling under load. Had that myself with a Savox servo.

Get a Novak Glitch buster or a Spektrum capacitor and plug into the receiver. Problem solved. Savox's are power hungry.

Is it the sensored or sensorless one? The Sensored has a 3 Amp BEC, the sensorless has a 1.5 Amp BEC, and they really struggle with the Savox servos.

Only thing that helped me when running a Savox was an external BEC. I had a MM Pro and the BECs are garbage. Hobbywing you may have better luck but if the glitch buster doesn't work, either buy a different servo or use an external BEC from Castle.

The 10A bec is the most common, It will power it no problem. Have you made sure your steering endpoints aren't to wide? just a thought, it pulls a lot of current when steering is fully locked and the servo is still pushing.

Yeh just set to 50% and still surge's

if i add the 10A bec will it draw more battery power causing less run time or will not affect running time ?

You can spend $20 on a Castle BEC, but I just use a cheapy $5 Hong Kong one, 3 Amps, 6 Volts and it's flawless. Don't need 10 Amps for a Servo!

+1, the servo is not receiving enough power to operate correctly. Adding a Rx capacitor will solve you issue. Spektrum makes a great one for about $6 (SPM1600) part #.

cheers for posting

another question (sorry) but I was given a 7.4v 21kg Savox servo aswell i put this in my hyper 10sc with a venome 13.5t combo with 35A speedy and it seems to be a little slow ?

is that just how that servo is or will that capacitor fix that aswell ?? I have read that they are a high torque fast servo ?

cheers, Kyle

yes a glitch buster/cap will fix it. i make my own 4700uf -10 volts. just solder a male servo plug on. costs around $1.50
