2.4 GHz Receiver Question

2.4 GHz Receiver Question
Do the Receivers and the Radios brand have to match?
I was looking at the Airtronics MX-Sport FHSS-2 2.4 GHz Radio w/3 Channel Receiver but I have the Traxxas TQ 2.4Ghz Micro 5-channel Receiver in my car. Will they work together?
And if I have multiple cars with the Traxxas TQ 2.4Ghz Micro 5-channel Receiver in them will there be an issue?
And does it matter if the receiver is 3,4, or 5 channel in the cars?
Thanks

yes, each manufacturer has their own protocol for using the 2.4gHz band.

Like said, the diff brands of 2.4 are diff enough that generally the 2.4 rcvrs will not work with other brand transmitters.
I'm running 2 diff RCs with the Traxxas 2.4 link radio and rcvrs, fixing to add a third. As long as you have at least the number of channles you need for teh electronics, it doesn't matter. You can use the 5 channle rcvr in a RC that uses only 2 channels.
