Usually those things have perforated holes in them though, at least the ones ive seen. That's why I was thinkin yoga mat. You could be right though

I got the thin yoga mat from Walmart. It is exactly like that except mine is purple. A friend of mine recommended this and it works great!

I found a thin mat like that at Harbor Freight. It's a 10' or larger roll for $10.

I got some fabric from walmart, its black canvas material with a rubber / plastic backing. Works pretty well.

I saw some foam-like material at sears & at sports authority that is used for padding under big athletic equipment. It's a bit too thick though. For my pit table I was searching for a hard smooth rubber about 1/4" thick that comes in rolls (that is called "marley" in the dancing world - I have daughters). I found it on-line but can't find it locally in Maryland. I did find a simple doormat at home depot for under $3 -- it has ribbed thin carpet on top and rubber non-skid backing. It is the perfect size for the limited pit table space at the indoor track and it works fine as a dome over my salsh while carrying it in a large field bag.
