LRP has always been good to me, & the old "SS Novak" stuff.
I also have a couple EPIC cans, & they work well.

From what I have seen so far, the new Novak Ballistic should be avoided like the plague.

I run the new novak ballistic motors no complaint only issue I ever had was with a sensor wire and that was my fault.

I see a tekin go up in smoke every week.

Novak seems to be "The One"

I was able to hang with the 1/8 E-buggys with my Novak 5.5 550 in my Hyper, and they were good drivers. Never had any problems, but I shoe-goo my sensor connections to make sure they dont come loose, and I ziptie my sensor wire so it doesnt whip around and break itself. Its got almost as much torque as when I had the MMM2650 in it, but lots more top end speed. If thats a "fail" then I cant wait to see what the rest of you are doing

im not saying the motor can't handle its own. i actually run that exact motor in my 4x4 slash. i love it!! the only thing im saying that it hasn't been to reliable for me. its going back for the second time as we speak, i think its the timing sensor. but maybe im not securing the wire good enough im going to try the tips you mentioned, thanks!

this poll should at least be specific to a particular scale to be relevant. e.g novak motors vary in how i'd rate them in 1/10th vs 1/8th applications

Any oppinion on the Trinity Nemisis 17.5 compared to the D3?
I just put the Nemisis in my SCT in place of the Duo2.

My experience with Novak is replacing the end bell bearring once a mounth or so.

Have tried MANY different combos, BEST to date for sure, my experience,
race every friday;

SC10, MOD class: Orion KO Propo race spec ESC + Venom V540 9.5T,(3 pole),
VERY smooth, lots of torque, fast. 120F max.

Losi XXX-T MF2, MOD class; "Infinite" 100 amp SR ESC + Venom V540 9.5T,
(3 pole).
Again, Very smooth, power everywhere, wide powerband, very fast and controllable. 120f max.

Both set-ups use NIMH 4200Mah "Propel" 7.2v packs.
VERY reliable
Son does real well racing w/ these combos.
For sure there are faster setups, but the combination of power and speed,
incl. wide powerband, kinda acts like a "big block" V-8.
Again, just my experience.
