Dont do the novak. I had that on my 5, ekkkk. Just grab a Motor mount from RCmonster or EliteRCD preferably and then a battery tray from a Hyper 9 or losi 8e and your done. There are a few other conversions out there but get the stuff you want and good quality.

I have converted a couple of MBX5R buggies. I used RC Product Designs' parts for the conversion, except for the battery tray, where I used Tekno. Works fine for me, although the MBX5 cannot compare to the way my converted MBX6 handles (it is also based on RC Product Designs + Tekno tray). Now I am working on a Tekno V4 and a new MBX6, cannot wait for this snowy winter to end

I would suggest RC-Monster, you can get the motor mount, servo plate, and battery tray. It is all high quality stuff, and the RC-Monster forum is one of the most helpful and knowledgeable group of people when it comes to 1/8 electric.

Stigno,
This one is for my son, mine will be a Tekno conversion for the MBX6. Thanks for the insight.
Simplechamp,
Is the Rc Monster motor mount sturdy enough to handle week in and weekout racing? I like the design of the Tekno motor mount, but that one will need me to drill some holes in the chassis to make it fit properly. Thanks for the links.
