Bead locks or no bead locks.........???
That is the question. Pro-Line beadlocks or stick with regular pro-line wheels and tires? Pros vs Cons?

Depends. I like the beadlocks myself but they have their downsides. 1) They're heavy. 2) If you run 10.5 or hotter motor they slip the bead on occasion. If you are racing they probably are not the best for you. Lke I said I like them and I use them in Spec and in Intermediate SC. After your second set of tires they payfor themselves, no glueing, and they look cool. Also, they give you the ability to have 1 set of rims but several sets of tires.

Dont run beadlocks...they will come off and cost you a race

They do seem heavy. Its for my SCRT10. The thought of changing tires instead of glue, new wheels etc. has my attention. They use a different tire though (I read) but dont see a price anywhere to see if they charge more for the beadlock tires.

too heavy for me

Sometimes a heavier wheel can be a tuning option but for the most part if you're racing they may be a bummer if they slip or come off during a race. I used to use BL's a lot when I raced MT and they needed a lot of maintenance and often the bead would get packed with dirt, but I loved how they looked.

They fell off my SC10 with 17.5. Drivin the tires right off the wheels!:tire:

beadlocks are good for messin arond but not so good for racing but i cant say i have ever had a problem racing with my beadlocks

The tires will blow right off the beads. You probably run a big motor in that SCRT as I do in mine. The weight of the beadlocks would not be an issue with the SCRT but I like said, keeping the tires on would be dificult.

I use the split six beadlocks on my sc10 as well as an scrt-10 with a 4.5 turn 550 with zero issues whatsoever. However I have installed these aluminum beadlocks to reduce a lot of the weight: http://www.teamstrc.com/index.php?ro...product_id=335

and from a vanity standpoint, they look kickass. |
I too have been running them on my scrt10 with the novak 4.5 and have had zero issues with them. I do use the pro-line split six with the pro-line caliber tires in m3 compound. It's nice not having to buy rims for every new set of tires.

I'm running split-six beads and suburbs on my Scrt10. I check them between rounds and sometimes they'll need a little attention and sometimes there fine. Running 13t/3800kv/2s on a small hi-bite track.
